Why some car dealers called "stealers"

Auto Dealer is the biggest scam in United States. They scam people in every aspect of their operations from selling new cars, dealing old cars, and servicing. It’s so massive but nobody in Washington is willing to address at federal level? Ticket scalping is nothing comparing to these guys.
Politicians in Washington has been busy pandering to donors who were charging US Navy $600 for toilet seat covers. Not to mention multibillion projects.... This has been going on in Washington DC for decades and will never change.
I learned to handle dealers on my own and just walk away from dealership if I smell the rat.
Unfortunately there are many people who do not do the homework, walk in unprepared and dealers pray on them...

I was at dealer yesterday doing my free oil change. There is a very young couple in front of me. They looked cute and naive, probably not older than 25. The service advisor was explaining, as usual, the zillion things they need to do on their car and give them a price of $3600. I feel so bad because nobody in that picture is bad. The couple just tried to service their car, and service advisor is making her honest living working with a very low wage following her manager’s instruction. I did not see that list but in no way maintenance should get to $3600. Not even half of that price.

I just stand behind quietly not doing anything. I remember 10 years ago when I was naive and scam by the dealer in similar way, the woman behind me at the line just follow me to my car and tell me how to do how to do certain things my own and never ask dealer’s help.

Funny thing I met the best sales in the same dealership. The average experience with their sales team is great. The price they offered to buy my old car was also quite fair that I don’t even have to bargain.

So there are many good people in this industry, all we need is to regulate their practice to curb the bad one from coming out.

Some things need to be taught to younger folks by us older folks. Especially this:

caveat emptor /ĕmp′tôr″/

noun

  1. The axiom or principle in commerce that the buyer alone is responsible for assessing the quality of a purchase before buying.
  2. A commercial principle that without a warranty the buyer takes upon himself the risk of quality.
