Why do I want the Premium Package?

Hunting for a LCLC without the Premium Package or 20" wheels. The Premium Package in particular seems to be near-universal. For $4600, it seems awfully unappealing--very few features I would miss at all. Am I missing anything here? Any tips on how to find an LCLC without the Premium Package?

Mention to your dealer you want a non premie, they should be able to either get one allocated or trade an allocation for one. If you don’t want the “extras “ that come with the premie that is your choice. I personally take a look at those extras and ask myself if I could add all the extras for $4600 after the fact. The answer is probably no. Making the premie a bargain. Ultimately it’s your money your choice.

$4600 is bargain for what we get. I love mine. If you wont ppreciate the extras, then of course you dont deserve them.
Buy down, be happeee.

I agree on 20" wheels, but had no choice...all Premium packages in my area had them installed.
I hate Cool box, do not care for the sunroof or JBL upgrade...
I really like HUD (the best part), digital rear view mirror, leather-trimmed driver memory seat, power front seat, rear cross-traffic alert and front cross-traffic alert, heated steering wheel..
I could live with LC without premium package, but 1958 is no go for me(no offence, pls.). It's just my personal opinion...

The upside of Toyotas inappropriate standard tires and wheels is that you are "forced" to upgrade to what you want.

At least Toyota isn't providing 22" wheels like Land Rover.

As far as premium being expensive, it is a lot of stuff for the money. What you value in that package is up to you.

No tips unfortunately, they were almost non-existent while we were searching. We didnt want the premium package but now that i have it I'm glad we did. For what you get, is worth the extra i feel.
Edit- i dont like the coolbox at all. That's the only negative- they should give you a rebate for having to live with it (consumes what little storage is available).

You’re not missing anything of real substance. And yes, it’s harder to track down a base LC with minimal options & accessories.

Premium is all about driving comfort. I don't care for the cool box, but I was pleasantly surprised by the sunroof. Premium adds the thigh extension as well, which feels so nice. For long trips the premium package makes a difference. I appreciate the speed limit, current speed, and cruise speed all presented in the HUD. And the leather, cheap and less durable as it may be, does feel nicer than the SofText, if only because I stick to it less.

The audio is still mediocre with the speaker upgrade, so if all you want is a audio upgrade I'd go another route: PAC-Audio, a real amp, door drivers that can push some bass, and replace the center speaker. I got used to the factory system and I'm okay with it.

As far as getting a premium package without the 20" wheels... it's possible but I wouldn't hold your breath. I was willing to wait (6 months) to get an allocation with premium package, java interior, and 18" wheels, but I wouldn't recommend because it may never happen in your area. If you see the package with everything except the wheels you want, take it and do a wheel swap later. The $1240 is a drop in the bucket compared to all the crap most people buy from their dealer. Instead of getting hung up on the wheels, make sure your dealer isn't adding paint protection, tints, alarm, warranty, etc. That will easily turn into a $5k or more over cost donation to your dealer, and mediocre installation. Do no dealer add ons and you will still come out ahead of 99% of buyers even if forced to take the 20" wheels. Note on LC LC MSRP is $5k over invoice, so dealer is doing great without overpaying for DIO.

The premium package price is fair for what you get, even if you don't want it all. That said, nothing wrong with the LC LC and it's 10% less expensive!

I agree, just not excited about the extra $ for stuff not important. Other opinions are available of course. We just stumbled across ours. Was looking for a 1958 but all of those had significant dealer add ons then this heritage blue non-premium LC LC was there at a similar sticker price. Looked around and could only find two equivalent ones within 500 miles and both were in transit. The 58s would have been cheaper, they were discounted heavily from list, but for us the non premium hit the sweet spot. Yes, 20 inch wheels but that’s a solvable problem, if it ever becomes one. So far I’m really impressed with how well this thing drives, was worried the 20s would make it harsh but not the case at all.

I have a LC LC without premium. It has everything I could want. Not sure if Canadian spec is different - up here, the moon roof, heated steering and power front drivers seat comes standard with LC LC and those were the options I truly wanted. I ordered mine Sept 2023 and waited till early 2025 before I received it. I imagine more must be rolling into dealerships now as I think that many of us that were part of that early demand bulge have received their vehicles.

We looked around for a while. No luck. We got them to drop the destination fee which took some of the sting out of final out the door price. We’ve had our premium 8 months now. Great long road trip vehicle (for us and our needs). Zero regrets.

The power front seat is on the non premium, and the 1958 up has rear and front cross traffic alert and heated steering wheel. Also, the LC without sunroof is elusive. They recently got one in without a sunroof (and a GX Overtrail) at my local dealelers.

You are correct about heated steering wheel and rear cross traffic alert... I had to check my window sticker and those options are not stated as part of the Premium package. But somehow Toyota stated that power seats and front cross traffic alert are part of the premium package. So if you are correct about power seats and FCTA as standard equipment, Toyota sold them to me twice, lol.

Toyota's website can do some inventory searching; not ideal but it does work. In my case I was shopping for a LCLC with the premium package and 18" all season tires. As you mentioned almost all LCLC will have the premium package and/or 20" wheels and/or all terrain tires (not sure where you stand on those).

Anyways I had to expand the search to to 500 miles and sort by price. You can filter by trim level and also by seating material (Leather is on the Premium Package / Vinyl on the LCLC / cloth on the 1958). In my case finding a LCLC w/ the premium is an easy filter (as yours will be by filtering the interior). But there no way to filter for the 18" wheels (you can filter for the 20" and an option).

I personally have never been a big fan of dealing with a dealer who does not have what I want on the lot and/or coming to the lot.

I’m pretty sure front cross traffic alert is part of TSS 3.0, which is on all models. The non-premium LC definitely has power seats. It is likely marked as part of the premium package because it is power “leather” drivers seat.

Personal preference, but the cool box ruins the interior to me, so I’d never consider the premium package. I have a 1958 and it is my favorite vehicle I’ve owned, and I have had vehicles loaded up with all the tech and materials such as alcantara, leather, and aluminum trim in the past. The non-premium with sunroof delete is definitely nice to get the bigger media screen and extra speakers. The media screen in the 1958 is fine, the speakers are adequate and good for a Toyota, though I wouldn’t complain about some more volume and range.
