Which is better in snow/ice - 20"Alloy or 18" standard

Have to think about this. On ice, I would think the 20" with Three Peaks rated tires would be better, i.e. more gripping surface. In snow, especially when deep, the 18" would win out, with a slightly narrower tire. However, the real difference would probably be negligible.
 
a few threads on this - coming from somewhere its winter half the year (including 6 inches of snow yesterday!) the most important thing is winter tyres at those sizes. more sidewall will give you a softer ride. if we were talking low profile tires its for sure the larger sidewall/winters but for the LC - winter and whatever you like the look of
