Uniden R8 power options?

We’re taking a couple long trips over the summer and looking to possibly put in a uniden r8 radar. I’m a careful driver and so is my husband but I’d rather be covered. I’m seeing mixed options for powering the radar though.

The obvious solution is just hard wire but I’d rather not do all that if we don’t have to.

Question is, is a usb-c to rj11 adapter the best move? And if so, what cord have you found that reliably works? OR is there a way to power it off the rear view mirror? Thanks for any advice and help!

I know!! It would make things so much easier. Looks like we’re going to try power it off the mirror and use a blendmount.

no problemo. Just got samples of our custom USB-C to RJ11 cable today:

Sweet! I’d love to see it after you get it set up on a Land Cruiser. We did order the radar and we ordered a blendmount right after I posted this. I believe my husband also ordered a Mirrortap mtx series power cord to wire it into the rearview mirror, but if your setup is cleaner/easier then I’m certainly happy to use that instead! Thanks a ton for your help and feedback!
