The worst times i have been stuck traction boards would have done the trick.
I am really starting to think traction boars, which i have multiple sets of may be the over all better option vs a winch used more for pulling road blocked fallen trees out of the way.
Very interested in some experienced opinions on this subject vs mine.

I’ve used plenty of comealongs but never in an off-road scenario. I’ve been in plenty of situations where traction boards didn’t cut it, or for example in a crossing where they just wouldn’t be ideal. Winch has always been the all around option for me. To me, boards have only been useful in “ramp” building on a very quick obstacle where setting up the winch pull would’ve taken 20 min longer than just dropping a couple boards down. I know they’re amazing for sand, but I’ve never offroaded sand so can’t really attest to that.
So for me, boards are only useful on very quick things but 90% of the time I fell on using a winch.
