Let's compare the Toyo ATIII in 35x12.5 and 285/75 both for 17" wheel. I have some Method 17x8.5 +35 offset wheels in LC trim.

Initially I wanted 285/75R17 which is available in the Toyo ATIII in C-load. I've seen some pics where it looked good but then realized it's on the 1958 trim, where the plastic fenders are about 1cm narrower. Got me thinking maybe I want the +25 offset instead. Thus, I was thinking of going a wider tire to compensate for that...and I saw the 35x12.5 is also available in C-load as well as E.

Then comparing these 2 sizes, they're practically the same weight. Despite the same weight, a larger tire will have slightly more moment of inertia due to the mass being further from the center.

The 35" has 35 max PSI vs 50 so it probably would be less durable. I wonder if it's the exact same tire and materials but they slightly stretched it a bit.

That comes to the last question. Having a 12.5" width compressed to a 8.5" sounds like it may make it look a bit balloony and maybe affect the wear negatively? I would've guessed a 9.0" wheel width would be best for this width. Not sure if it'll make a noticeable difference

Hi LCdad - I wanted to find out if you moved forward with the new tires. The 35 offset seems like a good match. Would be great to hear if you were able to fit the 34.5โ€ tire with no lift or trimming. Thanks.

I have the Toyo ATIII 285/75/17 on 17โ€ Black Rhinos with 25mm offset and no trimming was required. I had previously removed the mudflaps and air dam as I think they look ugly so donโ€™t know if those could remain with this tire setup.

I put 275's on mine. I don't know how you could go bigger without removal or trimming of air dams/related plastic as these just clear everything. Absolutely no rubbing and the spare fits.

I think your point is correct, but I can confirm 285's work in all conditions (articulated and street) and require no trimming. I don't think anything larger would work without trimming but curious if someone else can confirm otherwise.

Yes, I agree and have made that point before even if not well here. But I was happy to remove the flaps and air dams for purely aesthetic reasons as I think they are ugly AF.

Yes, Here's a few

I'm in a similar boat. Looking at doing the same wheel specs and hoping to do 35x12.5x17 tires. Baja Boss maybe? Not positive on tire yet.

Will have the westcott "lift" for now and wondering how much trimming may be necessary.

Can you post some photos showing the poke? I'm considering the same the wheel/offset and same size Toyo ATIII's
275/70 r18โ€™sโ€ฆthese may give you some idea till someone posts the 285โ€™s

@Thx_1158 what width and offset are the wheels you're running? Because I was also considering going with a 275/70/r18 on an 18" wheel.
I didnโ€™t pay any attention to it. Discount Tire had the Methods for the LC and I wanted to be rid of those 20 inch wheels. I didnโ€™t want to go bigger because I didnโ€™t want to mess with lifts, t.rimming and I wanted to keep the spare location. I just came out of lifted jeeps with 35โ€™s and I didnโ€™t want the spare hanging off the tailgate.

Who is running 703โ€™s with 285/75/17โ€™s? Iโ€™d like to see pictures and hear if any rubbing issues without lift. 35mm offset.
