Short, but interesting video about the effectiveness of fuel additives and Top Tier Fuel on the health of our engines. Whatever octane you use, this seems like a no-brainer. I try to get Top Tier Fuel, but didn't realize that I can use a website to search for stations in my area with it. Lake Speed, Jr. also brings up the fuel dilution issue many of us have observed in our oil analysis.

I have no proof but I feel like shutting off LC while the ICE is running causes some fuel dilution especially in colder weather. While stopped the ICE will run if the engine temp is too cold or the traction battery needs charging. I feel like stopping the engine while the LC is doing either of those actions leaves a fair amount of gas in the engine to mix with the oil. Again no proof, just my gut, which is often wrong.

Not sure I'm understanding "I feel like shutting off LC while the ICE is running"? You never shut the ICE down as long as it's running?

I try and avoid shutting off the car when the ICE is running, the majority of the time when I put my LC into park it shuts down the engine anyways, doesn't this usually happen with yours? Not the same type of hybrid but I did that with Prius as well, it could start a bit rough in colder weather if I didn't.

My first car was a hand me down SAAB Turbo, my parents drilled into me the importance of idling for a couple of minutes before shutting it off so it's bit of an old habit to sit in the driveway for a couple of minutes before turning off my car.
