I tried to attach a video, but it says the file size is too large for an 11 second video…

Starting yesterday after a 5 hour drive, every time I come to a complete stop my LC250 has a blaring loud noise that almost sounds like the car horn is going off. Loud enough that my wife could hear it inside our house when I got home.

I have an appointment scheduled tomorrow for them to take a look. I’m just wondering if anyone has run into this? I haven’t been able to find anyone in the forums discussing it.

The sound also briefly goes off on start-up. Maybe 1 second long of what sounds like the car horn going off.

Additionally, when I try to start driving from being completely stopped it jolts into gear like it’s having a hard time getting back into gear. The sound also sounds like it could be something trying to electronically engage whenever I stop, but isn’t able to so it just keeps making a loud noise until I start driving again and it jolts into gear. Will update once I have answers… only 14,000 miles on the truck.

When you say complete stop, do you mean like when you get home and you are parking it in your driveway and getting out? Or do you mean like when you roll up to a stoplight and are "completely stopped" while waiting for it to go green?

If the former, the sound might be what I assume is the parking brake. Mine makes this weird sound that sounds like the mix of a dog in distress (HRONNKGH) and some sort of rotating metal and metal scrape - happens within 0-60 seconds of stopping and putting it in park.

No, I know about the park break sound. This is a sound that goes off when coming to a stop like at a stop sign or being stuck in traffic. It is so loud that my wife can hear it from in the house when I roll up to park. It also makes the sound on startup. It literally sounds like I’m holding down on the horn. After being at a complete stop and making this loud noise, the vehicle aggressively jolts into gear when I push on the gas. Not good… I’m taking it in today. I sent a video to a Toyota technician and they said they’ve never seen it before.

Well the update is that it’s the transmission and they’re probably going to have to replace the whole thing after 14,000 miles. They said they have another one at the dealership waiting for a transmission swap. Dream of having the new Land Cruiser might be a dead dream now. Might just sell it for something else.
