Yes, that was a bad actor/dealership...
So do we need a HIT list of " bad Stealerships" places to avoid car shopping??

I like the idea, but one would need to read between the lines of each complaint to determine if it’s legitimately a dealership issue or if it’s a Karen owner issue.Yes, that was a bad actor/dealership...

This is what I’ve come to expect at dealer service centers, unfortunately. I think I’ve managed to find a quality center within easy driving distance of me, thankfully, but I’m going to wait to see how the next month goes before I declare success.Did 5,000 mile service today and paid for an oil change. They said they did the recall for ear camera, but 7 hours later, it still shows up on my app. They also told me I needed new wiper blades for $40 and a new cabin air filter. My truck probably hasn’t been drive in the rain 20 times. I told them if their wiper blades needed changed in 5000 miles and 6 months, I did t want another set and would rather buy at Walmart. Of course there is nothing wrong with the blades. My cabin filter is also a joke. It’s fine. I pressed the if it needed changing at 5000 miles they should do it because it obviously was faulty. They then said they felt I could make it to the 10,000 mile service.
What a load of crap. My remote start wouldn’t work about 4 hours later but do eventually come back. Great experience.
Exactly, just like most opinions on the web... Consider the source ! Yes, some Stealerships need some direction and critiques...I like the idea, but one would need to read between the lines of each complaint to determine if it’s legitimately a dealership issue or if it’s a Karen owner issue.
I wouldn’t let it deter you. This LC is easy to work on, and isn’t needy to begin with. 47k miles for meThis will be the first brand new vehicle I've ever owned and stories like this scare the crap out of me. Hoping to DIY everything but the included maintenance and hoping for very few issues LOL
They said it was needed but then said it wasn’t needed after being challenged. Clearly an (failed) attempt to sell something not needed to someone that wouldn’t know any better. Trying to get one over on your customer is about as sketchy as it gets in my view.I dont see whats sketchy about this IMO. in my experience Ford, BMW and Toyota all do this. It's a "if it looks bad, should we replace it?". As @EOD Guy said, just say no. 40$ for a cabin air filter is robbery, but for some people, the convenience is worth it. I say no to everything, get a nice list of "concerns" from Toyota and address the issues as needed.
Did my camera recall and after two days the app refreshed with no active recalls.Sorry to hear about that experience! If you're like me, I always expect the best from people and am let down with these type shenanigans !
I'm at 32K, so well beyond the free service interval. Doing all service (that I can) myself. Oil changes every 5K, just recently at 30K, did front and rear diff fluid and transfer case along with engine and cabin air filters. Ordered wiper blade refills from parts guy and did the replacement easy peasy.
I use all OEM parts and document everything meticulously for factory and the purchased Toyota extended warranties. Took it in for the brake squeal recall and I have an appointment for the camera recall thing (although I've not seen a problem) this week...
Otherwise, no issues whatever with this LC, even after my collision and extensive repair (much like your's Tim!)
Did your recall notice for the camera ever clear up on the app?
Yes the app changed a bit and does seem to work a lot better.recall fine and remote start came back that right, just looks a bit different.Sorry to hear about that experience! If you're like me, I always expect the best from people and am let down with these type shenanigans !

It wasn’t that big a deal on either but was just showed intent. I mean seriously my wipers hadn’t been in the rain a dozen times. They work perfectly, and the guy doubling back on the filter was just a joke. I gave them an honest review whe Toyota emailed me, and I simply won’t be back.I dont see whats sketchy about this IMO. in my experience Ford, BMW and Toyota all do this. My dealer has foot dragged a warranty repair of a defect in my drivers seat because of personnel in Toyota here in SoCal who has been "on leave " I've waited over two months for a response .All to no avail at this juncture!Did 5,000 mile service today and paid for an oil change.
