I know a few people have installed them. I’m curious on the safety or unintended consequences in added them. Will it put strain on a part of the seat or something weird like that.

I have a set from Desert Does It I think I want to install.

If it’s not obvious, I know nothing about this kind of thing so just wanted to see others’ POV, as I know there are smarter people than me.

Thanks

I put a set on both front seats of my 250.
I feel like they’re safe. When I saw on the Desert Does It site that they’ve done crash testing that made me feel better about it. I’ve made my own seat risers for several Subies but decided to buy them this time to get a more polished product for the Cruiser.

My main concern with them is getting the seat rails parallel and spaced correctly so the fore and aft seat adjustment isn’t causing any binding in the bearings or trying to push or pull the rails in or out. The seat rail holes are a bit oversized so I spent a lot of time trying to keep the rails spaced right while tightening them down.

There’s also the fact that the rear of the seat rails gets bent slightly since the front is lifted and the back is still being clamped to the flat mounting surface. But I couldn’t tell there was any bend to the rail after the install so it’s very minimal.

Thanks MTN40. I appreciate that feedback, especially the rails being parallel. I’ll take measurements.

I have the desert does it in my 1958 and I have them in my Tacoma. Never had any issues whatsoever and I’ve seen on their site that they claim them to be safe… that’s good enough for me. And I’ve switched them out and never noticed any kind of bending to anything.

Right on. Thanks. I had no issues and feels a lot better. Did you guys do all three pieces?

I did all three also. I tried two at first and then went back and added the third. Seats are great now.
