I’m replacing my plastic running boards with aftermarket sliders. I would like to use the running board light harness and just connect a cheap rock light that would function like the stock light does. Has anyone done that or know how much draw that circuit can take? I am hoping that an amazon rock light is low enough draw it’d work with stock wiring instead of using a relay. Thoughts?

It'll work or it won't........ if it won't, install a relay........ LOL

@Markarian421 and @uraniumrich and I had a separate dialog trying to figure this out. Great collaboration and thanks guys for the research that got me where I am! Got mine working with Slee lights on my FE with factory sliders this week. Here are my pictures, but I think @Markarian421 will have an easier solution using the factory wiring harness for the running boards he got ($35 for both sides from the dealer). I built my own pigtails to connect to the unused harness for the running boards and adding pins and wires to the connectors was a pain! You will still need to build a harness for the lights, but the connector and pigtail will be ready for you.

Lights work just like the mirror courtesy lights…illuminate on approach and dim when the mirror light dims. I angled mine to light up the sliders and the ground, thus the shadows, but they can be rotated up or down as needed with the mount I used. Also, used fluid film on the part of the frame I mounted to just to be safe. No clue what this part of the frame is meant to be used for. I am guessing that it is used for other models since the frame is the common TNGA platform.

Slee lights…$95. Includes wired lights, mounts and hardware. I got the lights with the rounded aluminum mounts as they fit the place I chose to mount the lights best. Wires are bare, so I built my own harness…did not need relays.

This is the cable and connector already attached to the car that I plugged my light harness into. It will be plugged into the dummy connector shown in the picture.

Credit @Markarian421 for the picture he shared. This is the cable he got and not sure if he has installed yet. You need two of these (one for each side) and need to cut it to splice in the lights when you get them. Still work to build the harness, but at least your connector pigtail is ready to go.

82157-60140 is the part number for both right and left sides.

On your harness what connector did you use? I don’t mind making my own.

Credit to @Markarian421 and @uraniumrich for collaboration and leads on getting the right parts for the job. Here is what I shared with them after I got mine installed.

This is my parts list for the lights and harnesses. I would buy extras of the cheap parts from Corsa Technic. It is REALLY difficult to get the pins installed correctly where they are inserted enough and won’t fall out. After trying with 6 connectors, I decided not to use the white retaining clip inside the connector as it won’t seat properly for me when the pins are inserted deep enough….only got it to work once out of the 6 I tried. That’s why I super wrapped and waterproofed all the cables.

Lights - $95 I got the nes with the silver plates. Instructions are for the black plates. Silver works with my chosen mount point.

Corsa Technic parts. 2 connector kits, 2 sealing plugs is all you need. Parts are cheaper than shipping so get more than you need. I got way more parts including the female plug so I could test connections off the car to make sure they fit. All connectors are Sumitomo and match what is on the LC. I also got replacement clip to clip the connector on the body where the dummy connector is. Hard to get the dummy off without breaking it. BTW, the dummy is just a real connector with 3 plugs in it and can be reused in a pinch if needed.

I think that’s the PN for just one. I didn’t want to buy two until I’d done some experimenting.

That was also my approach too, running a pigtail from 1 side to the other. I have yet to confirm if there is even power going to the existing plug

Well unless there is some trick to get power to that plug. I think its not connected. Its a 3 pin connector and I tried every possible pin combination with my multi-meter and never got a voltage reading. I tried unlocking and locking several times to no avail.

Did you try with the door open or just recently opened? On the other trims I think it only gets power when the door/ground lights would be on, when a door is opened.

Well I just tried it again and nothing. This really sucks being I just bought all the connectors last night! Why have the damn connection with no power!
