I'm looking to replace my predator steps to get some actual rock and parking lot door ding protection. I also like to use these sliders for steps for older folks to step in the LC and roof access.

I've seen Greenlane, Victory 4x4, CBI, Westcott. There might be some I'm missing.

The Westcotts drill into the frame. The Greenlanes dont drill into the frame and seem pretty popular on this forum but I'm not sure if they provide actual rock sliding protection as they are claimed as steps rather than sliders it seems.

I'm not sure how I feel about drilling the frame and what that would do to the warranty and the ride itself.

Most of the rock slider and step talks here are pretty spread apart.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I replaced my FE edition rock sliders with these:

They attach right to the frame with the factory holes. No drilling required. They are a step and a frame mounted, solid slider. No regrets here.

That was one of the ones I couldn't think of when I posted this. I like how clean they are and flush. Like they are an extension of the body of the car.
Def on top of my list now.

Why did you replace the FE ones? They seem legit

I have CBI sliders on order. I’ve seen them in person. Super strong with great mounting points.

I do not see anywhere on the Greenlane site where their sliders are described as anything but sliders? “Will protect vehicle from rocker damage and support vehicle weight, but not recommended to be used as a high lift jack point.”

There's also Sleep and Nytop

They are great as sliders but not useful as a step. I have two kids so wanted something that looked good, functioned as a legit slider and could also be used as a step. The Dissent ones met all those needs.

Makes sense. Thanks. And glad to hear it wasn’t due to a problem with OEM. OEM ones seem to be the best option for me

I want to add sliders as soon as possible, but I'm having trouble finding just what I want. I like the Westcott, but shipping from AZ to VA killed them as an impulse buy. OEM isn't enough of a step for my size 13s. The Greenlanes are aluminum and will get chewed up by a Hi-Lift. The Dissent is nice, but well outside what I would like to spend. I don't like the step plates on the Slee and Nytop. I'm hoping White Knuckle has a version ready soon. I have been really happy with their set I have on my GX.

I would highly recommend checking out the rock sliders from CA Tuned Offroad. They are the only ones right now that make their sliders flush to the vehicle, eliminating that gap, have a slight angle and super strong, with both sliders weighing in at about 88 lbs!

Too bad they don't have an option that gives it a top plate to function as a step as well

Earlier this week, I ordered rock sliders from RCI Metalworks. I installed them on my 2021 4Runner TRD Pro and loved them. They are "bolt on" but it looks like the installation will be more complicated than on my 4R. I waited for theirs to become available, passing on every other option.

I put on the Slee sliders and love the look, strength, and function of them. No drilling required. Installation requires two people, but it's straightforward and the instructions are clear. I had originally planned on using the Westcott sliders, but didn't like the idea of drilling out holes. Then I saw the Slee sliders and liked the look much more than the tubular versions like Westcott.

Here's a link to Slee Rock Sliders

I was dissapointed to find that the steps on the factory side step option that came on my LC 1958 are not bolt one, but part of the entire assembly. They are annoying as hell.
