From what I’ve read, collar lifts and preload collar lifts all increase static height but also decrease actual suspension travel or articulation. Makes sense, as the car sits higher but the actual endpoint of extension is the same.

Would I be correct in assuming all aftermarket suspension lifts kits like King, Icon, Dobinsons etc all have a slightly longer shock to then allow for more extension/droop even after the lift? This is, assuming the UCA is not the limiting factor for droop, but in fact the shock length.

For a modest for of 1-2”, I assume the shock should not bottom out so I should not need extended bump stops correct?

Preferably, I want to keep the lift modest so I can just get new shocks and springs without new end links and all the other components.

Thanks in advance

I think I can help because I'm looking to stay as stock as possible but able to correct the squat from additional weight such as a bumper and winch and stuff in back, for example.

I haven't decided on which of these I'm doing yet, but I'm leaning towards the Dobinson for a little more flexibility in setting it up.

First, I think this is as basic as you can get, simple spring swap, 1.5" lift all around. I spoke to them directly and they think that with a bumper/winch on the front, it would settle out between 3/4 and 1".

Second, this is the Dobinsons 1-3" which does include new shocks. I've been emailing back and forth with them and they made the following recommendation for my use case: C59-816 front springs, C59-885V rear springs, and the 0-2" shocks.

I'm leaning this way because of all the options and flexibility to adjust if I add more weight in the back, for example.

The front recommendation was based on adding an aftermarket bumper + winch, and the rear recommendation is because I'm adding 27 pounds of new constant weight, and they said to focus on the constant weight, not the transient weight (putting stuff in, taking it out), since this is also my daily driver. You could "over lift" the rear if you don't keep a ton of stuff in the back.

I’m also waiting for the Dobson’s. In your correspondence with them, did they give you any idea on when these would be in stock and ready to ship?

No but I've been watching this thread at ih8mud where they're reporting most stuff arriving end of March for early April shipping.
