@Bad1975 how's your wheel/tire setup 1 year later? I have some Nomad Convoy 17.8.5 +25 that I'll install as soon as I pick up some tires and wondering if you're still happy with the 255/85R17s. Some early discussion in this thread about stiffness not being noticeably different than the stock 20s, still think that?

8.5 inch width is kinda thick for a 255. I went with 7.5 inch method 314 recently on a 255.

Love this tire size, wheels, and the weight of the setup. The tires are great other than noise, so will go with another brand hopefully at the same weight next go round to try and remedy the noise.

Great to know, thanks. What kind of off roading have you done and have you had any rub? Also, did you have to pull mudflaps or do any other trimming? Apologies if that is already discussed above, if so I missed it.

Definitely at the outside end of the envelope but from what I've read it may be better on road handling and not a significant off-road hit.

Hopefully someone answers with experience, but that’s a nearly 35” tire so would be surprised if it didn’t rub a bit.

I picked up a set of the heavily used MT 255/85R17s yesterday to find an answer to this exact question. They now measure 34" diameter but should give me a pretty good idea if they will work or not.

I do have a ~1.25" lift in the front so your mmv.

Sidenote: The sidewalls of the MT Baja Bosses are significantly wider than the tire carcass itself. I measured the carcass at the stated 10.1" wide but after including the beefed up sidewalls they measure more like 10.75".
