New 1958 stock tire size option from BF Goodrich.

Just purchased these and they are amazing
Thanks for the evaluation. I am holding off until mid-summer to get a set, as until then I will only be doing city/highway driving.

Did you get four and keep the stock spare, or get five of them?

Just got four and kept the stock spare as it’s the same size. The vehicle handles better, there’s significantly less body roll, and only marginally more road noise. I love the thinner profile of the 245s.

It’d be great to see some pictures of your KO3’s in the 245 size on the vehicle.

Ask and you shall receive.

Not sure. They’re d-load rated, but don’t feel any heavier than the stock tires on the road. Overall feel is super grippy (making the ride feel more torquey) and nimble.

I pick up my LC today and will replace the tires with LT245/70R18 BFG KO3s. Question: what are people doing with the stock tires?

Honestly feels like they made the tire for this specific vehicle given the d-load rating and uncommon width. Or at least, they’re perfect for it!
Probably so... the size tire on the 1958, 245/70R18, is a bit of a unicorn... I don't know if there are any other production vehicles in the US that use that size from the factory...up to now, if you searched for tires, the only ones of that size would come up are the Geolander X-CVs that come stock on the 1958s...so it pretty much means you had to size up if you wanted to upgrade tires.

Per the specs, these Ko3s come in at the same diameter and same rim width as well.

EDIT: I'm very tempted by these...though I'm not in a rush to feel the hit at the pump that adding 10lbs/tire will lead to...

Discount tire will let you trade them in if you buy the ko3s from them. usually 75 to 100 dollars per tire.
I’m getting them from America’s Tire in Stockton and they said that it was a super uncommon tire and couldn’t do a buy back. Boo hoo

Glad you all like them and have this option! I’m surprised BFGoodrich made this tire size though given how small the market is for it, pretty much the 1958 Land Cruiser. I can only assume there must be more vehicles coming to market in this size and/or it is going to be used as a OEM tire for a manufacturer. I’m also surprised they haven’t released a D load in the highly popular 265/70R18. I went with a C load AT in 265/70R18 on my 1958 and saw little to no change in MPG and a big improvement in ride quality, handling, and cornering as well as achieving a 1.25” lift to 9.5” at the lowest point underneath.

I know we're talking about very small sample sizes thus far, but would be interested to hear about effects on MPG going from the stock Geolanders to these KO3s on the 1958...

Curious, what tire did you go with?

It looks like B.F. Goodrich is releasing an LT265/70R18D 119/116S ( D load) version of the KO3 in 2026 per the following link:
