I have the digital key downloaded and it works, setup the siri shortcuts but now it says I have to add the digital car key to the apple wallet and its not showing as an option in the apple wallet. doh!
Hello all.. Just wanted to share my experience using Siri to remote start the LC:
It seems if you change the default build of shortcut command (as added by the Toyota app) from within IOS shortcut app, it messes with the Toyota app by removing the ability to use the voice command. I've tested this a few times all with same results.. Not sure if either Toyota or Apple needs to fix this? Or both?
And if this is all so confusing, I apologize.. If you're in IT, you might be familiar at how difficult it can be to document every detailed step when trouble-shooting
- Initially setup Siri within the Toyota App
- Tested and did not work.. Paused to think.. Tried same test a few times = FAIL
- Then realized the LC had to be locked first in order to remote start from app
- Locked the doors using both app and FOB (2 different tests) then asked Siri to run shortcut = PASS
- Brain-stormed how to update IOS shortcut for "remote start" to:
- Lock door first
- Then start the LC
- Created a "Run Lock" action within the "Start Vehicle" IOS shortcut app. It worked just one time to where it locked the door first then started the vehicle when using voice command = Partial Success
- Rebooted phone.. Worked again for just one time = Partial Success
- Checked integrity of "remote start" shortcut within IOS shortcut app= PASS
- Tapping on the "remote start" shortcut will lock the LC then start it = PASS
- Back to investigating the "why" it only worked once using voice command
- Reviewed the Toyota app and VOILA the shortcut phrase reverted back to DEFAULT ("+" symbol) but only for the "remote start" piece
- Tried re-adding starting phrase in Toyota App and the message "You already have a shortcut or a home scene name "Start <vehicle>" popped up even though it reverted back to DEFAULT where one would see the "+" symbol

This. Helped me. I did not have iOS App “shortcuts” downloaded on my phone. I downloaded that, went into the app, slected the “start my car” phrase button which I had recorded within the Toyota app, and it works!
This one step made several other frustrations work for me: now my my garage door and house door smart locks all work from Siri. Hallelujah!

sooooo... just always lock your doors when you walk away from the car?
then just remote start normally without issue?
in general practice, yes.. it's the only way the remote start works.. I do this anyway when parking in a public place but, at home, I park in the garage and never lock it. This is where the Siri short-cut comes in handy

I have recently done it a few times in 20° weather, with the heat set as high as it would go, also using the app. It worked great! Miss Daisy automatically shut off after 20 minutes, which the app shows on the count down timer.
EDIT: Miss Daisy automatically shuts down after 10 (TEN) minutes.

Even with the garage door open and a large fan blowing when working on the car tuning/jetting the carburetor or just letting it run to heat cycle a number of times and get moisture out of the engine in winter it can sometimes set off the carbon monoxide detector. Just goes to show that you can even take a precaution and dangerous levels can be detected.
I don't use the app but I think it's got to be enabled in order for it to work, IDK. I don't have a problem using the key fob to remote start mine.
I totally agree! It feels like I have to be relatively close and it's inconsistent enough that I'm not sure if it's working on the third press or the fourth. As someone else mentioned, the Toyota app has much better range and consistency. But it's a fun feature, to be sure!

I tried this thru Siri And it says you have to download load app or add digital key to wallet?
I have the app downloaded and recorded voice commands for Siri short cuts . I can’t find anyway to put digital key in wallet , any help here would be appreciated
According to Toyota Rolling Out Apple Wallet Car Keys on iPhone the Apple Wallet integration is only available on select RAV4 models. It could still be rolled out to more models i suppose. If I read it right, it should allow full hands-free access to car. Right now I have to open the Toyota app for the digital key to work (despite the "help" section indicating it is not necessary).
Yup, got it to work. But, as already noted, it is inconsistent.
