Is there a master reset besides maybe disconnecting the battery?

After towing my full mileage went down to about 270ish. Before towing it was as high as 320. How do I get the 320 back after each towing trip?

Distance to Empty calculation comes from your Total MPG.
This display on your dash can be either Total Average or Trip Average.
If it's Total Average, then you have to reset it manually, or else it's showing the entire average MPG of the life of your LC.
I reset this with each fill-up like resetting the trip odo in the old days to calc MPG by hand.
Hold down the OK button on the left of the wheel, move over to this display being highlighted, then it will say something like "press OK to reset".
If you don't have this displayed on one of your dash screens, you'll have to put it on one of them to get to this.

It takes time, lots of time, of your LC returning very good fuel economy numbers, for the ECU to calculate the new and improved DTE numbers from not pulling a trailer.

Probably not. It's based on a rolling average of your MPG (how many miles this is based on, I don't know. You'd have to ask a Toyota engineer).

If you "reset" your MPG to zero (what else would you reset it to?), your mileage to empty would be undefined (can't divide by zero).

Just follow the gauge, and not the mileage. The mileage is calculated from the gauge (gallons in the tank), not the other way around. Mileage to empty is just a best guess and never meant to be absolute; it will change as you drive - like the time to arrive in a GPS application.

Reseting it after every fill up isn't doing anything. It resets itself every time the engine is restarted (the "Hybrid System" in Footnote #2 and stated right after the B in the box).

I find this reset after engine start to be really annoying. It would be nice to be able to only manually reset it.

So that's why I mentioned this MPG gauge can be either "Total Average" or something like "Trip Average".
You want to change it to Total Average, and then it only resets when you manually reset it with the method I wrote above.
I don't remember the steps to do that, but I had to figure it out when my LC was new because it bugged me also. I wanted to reset it with each fillup.

You're right that if it resets every trip, then it's not what is being used to calculate DTE. That must be some recent MPG value for a given time period that we don't know, as you said.

I get that having an accurate number there could be helpful in certain situations, but it doesn't have any bearing on how far the car will actually go on that tank of gas. The DTE is the car making a guess at how far it can go on the remaining fuel, nothing more.

It bugs me that it's always displayed there. I'd rather be able to select something else to show in that space, and have to specifically go look for DTE if I want to know.

you can have a DTE of 340 , but you get on a texas highway and drive 85 mph for 3.5 hours and you will be empty
