This is so far the best sleeping solution for LC that I have found online. The price is totally crazy, likely that has included tariff. I am thinking we can just go buy us some memory foam and make this our own. The cost for memory foam is probably only $100-$150 I would guess. I am not sure if I can get somebody to make the cover though since that is outside my skill set. But assuming if I can find one to make it, we can probably make this one within $300 if I have to take a guess.

It says the gray color is $250 but the gray and black is $750. I don't understand the price discrepancy, pretty drastic for just a color difference. Am I missing something ?

I think gray is just a top cover, and black is the base foam, which is the key part. That piece is $450 plus $100 shipping, which is very over-priced. I bet the material they used is very cheap.

I will try to do a measurement and go find the custom furniture stores to ask them to make it for me. I think a good quality one should be south of $400. Even better I think all we really need is the foam cover. Everybody can stuff material of our preference in it.

I tried local upholstery shop, but for me the $400 or so cost quoted was more than I wanted to pay. You can buy a custom sized (42x 42 fits the space behind the folded rear seats) covered 3" foam at Amazon (Foamma brand) for about $150 IIRC. Provides a level area for whatever mattress you care to use. Space from rear gate to back of front seats is enough for 6' tall me.

This is my measurement only on the cargo area. The cheapest way to make this is to get a single piece custom size (42) x (40~42) x 4 rectangular foam. You can probably get a good quality one at around $250. I want to be able to stack them up like the mattress from eBay so I am thinking maybe get three piece at 14/14/14 each, they will be about 12 inches tall when stacked up so roughly level with the cup holder on the side. The caveat is that it will be more expensive, $400+ wouldn't be a big surprise.

I think if we only cover cargo area it would not be very comfortable. But if I add additional coverage to the second row seat back, probably it will be only one inch on the seat back and 5 inches instead of 4 inches for the cargo area. That will increase the material cost quite a bit too. I'll add another 50% to $600.

In addition, I havn't figured out whether I should also have the mattress to cover the two wings at the end of the vehicle. It looks like another expensive addition to the design. Perhaps I'll give up that part and only find containers to fit these area instead.

I'll try to find locally who can custom make these cushion cover for me. I think just make a few zip closed cushion cover should have a chance to make the budget to be within $300, and I can just buy the right size of foam to stuff into these cover.
