Let's Talk Windshield Wipers

I’ve been going with Bosch on my other vehicles. The 250s aren’t good - have had chatter and skipping from the start. Haven’t replaced them yet.

I used to use the Toyota OEM blade inserts on my FJ cruiser. But I think Toyota lost their way with their blades being good quality. Last few blade inserts lasted barely a year before disintegrating.

I live in a very sunny area which accelerates their failure.

Find a set of silicone wipers. They are more expensive but will last a long time.
I tried silicone wipers and found their performance significantly lacking compared to the Bosch Icons I had been using on my non-Toyota vehicles as well as the OEM blades on my Toyotas. I had streaking with the silicone wipers and replaced them prematurely with the Icons. On my Toyota, I've always replaced the blades with Toyota OEM rubber with excellent results. I have not noticed any change in OEM quality.

I keep my windshield and blades clean (along with the rest of the car.) I also typically use my orbital polisher with a wool pad to clean the gunk and grime off the windshield at least once a year. I apply Wolf's Nano Glass Sealant to the glass about every three months to help keep the surface of the glass smooth and free of contaminants. All wipers work better on a clean, sealed windshield.

Our's only has 1200 miles and stays in the garage a lot, when the time comes it will get Bosch as I have had good longevity out of them on other vehicles that we own.
