LC 250 Factory short roof rack awning mounts/ brackets?

Lots of awning options for the factory short rack, however as someone pointed out the factory short rack has strength limitations.
I tried to get the Prinsu side panel to work too much work to make it work so i just ordered the prinsu full roof rack.
Their stuff is top rate and will not disappoint.
Enjoy.

That was me… and I’m right there with you. I am soooo close to buying the Sherpa Atlas. The ONLY reason I keep putting it off is because I really want a 3/4 rack (yes, our’s are really only 2/3, but alas). Share the deets on e you have that beast installed!

I’m a big fan of the Sherpa rack if you decide to go full length. Good quality and great customer service in my experience.

I had a Sherpa on our last two 4Rs. They are well designed and very rugged. I had Prinsu on my last Taco and they are awesome for aftermarket modularity. There are many great options. I’m still shocked that ARB struggled on this one.

What i was thinking is leave the crossbar over the sky light window off. It taqkes a few eeks of rit to get Mfg and here, ill seond osme pics after, they make very good gear.
I have been impressed with that i have seen so far.

As a longtime fan of their products I’m a bit worried about what I’ve been reading about ARB lately.

This is exactly what I did. Get the benefit of a huge flat surface for large items (I can safely transport a stack of drywall on the roof rack for example), but the sunroof window isn’t obscured. I thought I’d eventually add in a crossbar in that spot but the need never arose.

Are you referring to the static and dynamic load of the rack Or something more?
The side rails are not real robust,, bend easily.
The right window panel is way to much trouble to get to work, i have my doubts about the awning i want to take on and off as needed. The factory short rack is a wonderful rack, just not enough for want i want to do.
I tend to try things and then upgrade as needed.

Ahh didn’t think of that. One of my wish list items is the vixtory window molle to mod to mount my air compressor. This is making me second guess it.

If you put anything more than 10-15lbs (my comfort level) on those side “slats”, I’d personally be doing some reinforcing to the frame behind them. At the very least I’ve considered running a 1/4” thick round or flat bar across the length of the fairing. I know some people have made it work (@t3lcfe comes to mind) but I don’t share the confidence.

That’s great info. The air compressor build I did in a Apache case weighs in at 21lbs. This isn’t worth the effort anymore.

If it makes you feel any better, the higher up on the vehicle you put heavy things, the more it impacts the performance.

Side window molle panels permanently mounted as shown in photo for everyday drive.
All accessories/gears (RTT, Maxtrax, side awning, extra fuel / water, utility / recovery store box) ONLY attached to roof rack and side molle panels with quick mount and release

Agreed: don’t tend to mount anything heavy to outside of OEM side rails, but inside and cross bars.
The molle panels (even though support heavy gas and water containers) that attached to the outside of side rails, are okay because the loads are pull down on side and supper hold up by two 6” seasucker suction cups on windows

T3LCFE: don’t like full size roof rack because it looks “ugly” from front view (per his taste). He prefers 3/4 or keeps OEM. With some creative mind, engineering and hand on…you can make all works for you 😜

Side note: you can have the air compressor mounted inside the “utility store box” shown on attached photo

@t3lcfe do you mind sharing details on the baja lights you have on the side of the rack? any issues and tricks with mounting?

No trick. Just straight toward to the “hole” you like 😜
(Just bolt the included bracket through the OEM hole of roof rack where you like your light approximately is. Reverse the bracket so that the light can be adjusted more downward if you want)
Newly attached photo for your reference.
As you see, paint the bracket in black (instead of stainless steel finish/color)
