KO3's!!!

I asked BFG customer service if K03's 265/70/R18 will come out in other load ratings, they said by Feb 2025 a D rated tire will be released.
Man that is great news! Thanks for letting me know because I love these tires except they're a little heavy.

And they also released a 245/70R18/D to fit the stock tire size of the 1958...

17.9 mpg this morning. Still climbing
I drove to Pueblo, CO for a K9 trial Saturday from Santa Fe on I-25 to Pueblo, stayed at a hotel, went back south a few miles to the CO fairgrounds to the trial, ran 2 dogs in the same trial and left and drove back to Santa Fe on the same route. Was pushing almost 21 mpg for the entire trip that was mostly 20 - 21 mpg on 91 octane over the 8+ hours driving at 75 - 80 mph with numerous elevation changes, have just over 7k miles after buying in early August 2024 and having vehicle trucked over to Santa Fe. I'm not understanding why you are getting sub 18 mpg. I would really like to know if the KO3's are ok at 36 lbs at cold psi because there is a significant ride difference at 40 lbs cold start in hot weather reaching 45 lbs vs 36 getting to 40 and probably much better suspension longevity. I drove them mostly at 36 October through March and the traction was excellent, including some big snow events. I don't question the durability of the tire, but I don't think my dogs love the stiffness/hard bouncing @ 40 lbs and doubt I am the only one. From my experience I believe the tread will be very durable mileage-wise. As an aside I parked next to a Goldie like I have at Albertsons this afternoon and first saw it about 2 months ago in town and I was thinking you better get better tires than those Michelin LTXs that came with it and I hope he/she didn't get shafted by the SF dealer.

Presently I’m running them at around 43 psi. I have I believe 16,000 miles on it now and was able to increase the psi as I got the mileage up. The 17.9 is cumulative mileage since sometime after I got the KO3’.. On recent trips I have seen as high as 23 mpg in ideal conditions. I’m sold on the KO3’s because it gives me the handling characteristics and snow performance I was looking for. I would just go to the D series that are coming next year, for the next set to drop the weight a little.

From my house, if I have to go into town, it's about a 5-10 mile drive depending on where I'm going, and mostly uphill with a number of stoplights. My vehicle usually reports about 15-17 MPG for that short trip.

On the return trip, same distance but mostly downhill, the LC will ready 18-20 MPG.

Once a week I have to drive into a remote office for work, ~55 mile trip one way on the highway... vehicle usually reports 24-26 MPG for that trip.

I'm riding on KO3 245/70R18 ("C" range), so they're lighter than your "E" range KO3s, but the point remains, the vehicle is much closer to advertised MPG on the highway...fortunately for me, that's the majority of my driving these days.

I thought KO3 is always an β€œE” tire. You can get that for β€œC”? What is the difference in terms of temperature and traction?

They have different load ranges based on tire size, and some sizes have multiple options.

The main difference is sidewall strengh/thickness, so the higher the load range, the heavier the load the tire can support at greater PSI...but higher load range also means that the tire will be heavier, and thus affect things like fuel economy. For off-roading the thicker sidewall also protects against damage from rocks and potential punctures.

Take this chart for example: LT265/70R18 Tire Pressure
You'll see that for a tire size LT 265/70/R18, there are 2 load ranges available. The tire with the "C" load range can handle up to 2535 Lbs (per tire) @ 50 psi, while the "E" range tire can handle 3525 Lbs @ 80 psi

The stock tires, I believe are "SL" range, or "standard load"...at least they are on the 1958...which is a lower range than the C, D, or E.

EDIT: OP's tires, KO3 265/70R18, are currently only available in "E" range, but BFG has announced that they will release a "D" range in that size next year.
