I don’t want my LC to beep when I unlock, lock or close hatch. Is there a way to delete this? I have Carista and can’t find a setting. This will be annoying when hunting and trying to be quiet. I don’t mind the lights blinking, but hate the beep.

Got it off on door locks but can’t find anything for back hatch?
Not that I can find. I'm trying to locate the piezo and disable it. You can't do it in the settings nor Carista. Probably some DoT requirement.

I did unplug the one behind the grill that goes off when you walk away from a running vehicle, but it throws a warning message on the gauge cluster, so I plugged it back in.

I'm not sure if I could just remove the guts or wire something up, I'll need to find someone smarter.

According to the owners manual, you can't turn it off when it starts to open (see footnote 2), but you can turn it off while it is opening, and you can turn the volume down.... You can turn the volume down yourself using the driver's info display (not the multimedia display), but to turn it off while the door is opening is something for the Toyota Tech to do for you (I'm actually surprised that Carista doesn't have this one)...

After my previous vehicle had an automatic rear lift gate, I'm actually glad to have a manual one with my 1958... I rarely found the auto liftgate convenient, and in many cases took longer to open/close than I can do myself...plus, shortly before I got rid of that car, it started creaking badly, and I was waiting for it to become to an expensive repair (but fortunately never had to deal with that before I got the LC).

...and I might add -- that the power liftgate can be a big battery drain, which is another way to exacerbate the small 12V battery issue...

I thought I heard The Car Care Nut mention in his Land Cruiser review that the hatch actuators are actually interchangeable so if yours fail or just wanted you could just swap in the actuators from a 1958 model and have a manuel hatch instead.

Settings>vehicle customize>door control >feedback lights and feedback tone to delete lights and beep when locking. Can’t turn off beeping or lights when opening hatch. Kinda glad this thread was started, I hunt as well and don’t need the beeps or flashing lights.

Yup I did the locks like that but can imagine getting my turkey gear out in the back with all that beeping!

The only way I was able to turn off beeping when opening hatch was to disable PBD on the dash screen , the one behind the steering wheel, but then you have to manually open and close the hatch. Not sure what the acronym means but I still don’t know what half the acronyms mean.

Ah! so there is a way, Does it open and close fairly easily, like a regular non powered hatch?

@NoMe cruiser

Don’t know for sure? I would assume it would as the lights correspond to the beeps but there is nothing documenting it in GTS+.

When I switched to one beep I also only get one flash, but didn’t try the off setting.

I'm still shocked Toyota didn't put a button for the cargo hatch lights and mine sure don't turn off after a certain period of time, what were they thinking. lol. Now I have to do EOD's mod.

I'm flabbergasted that Toyota did this. And they charged me $195 for the factory-installed option. Not to mention -- my LC also has the PIO front-door illuminated door sills -- which, of course, are always on whenever the door is open, day or night... (and unfortunately they are not subject to the interior lights switch)
