Hey Land Cruiser crew,

We’re stoked to announce a fresh addition to the forum: Land Cruiser Garage Talk! This new section is all about where you park or work on your Land Cruiser—the garage. Whether you’re wrenching on your LC, organizing your space, or geeking out over the latest tools, this is the spot to swap tips, show off setups, and dive into the nitty-gritty of garage life.

I love custom garages... love to see pics of everyone's setup and their favorite must have gear!

It's just a general term. It also includes driveways, carports, and sheds. 🍻

Let's start with ramps and jacks. Which models do you guys like or recommend and why.

I have owned two ramps. I gave the $79 steel set from Horrible Freight away to my X GF so she could easily do her own oil changes. They were kinda big, heavy, clunky, noisy, and more difficult to store. I replaced them with the $49 plastic ones from AutoZone. they are much easier to store, much lighter, and less clunky than the steel ones from Horrible Freight.

That's a great question! I need a new hydraulic jack as well.
I bought a lime green (easier to spot in someone else's garage) three ton floor jack from Horrible Freight (pre pandemic) to use with my one ton Transit van (~6,200#'s). It works great. I don't know what I paid for it.. maybe $125???

I try to invest in good quality tools, but Horrible Freight does have a floor jack that I'm considering. It's the Badland off-road jack.

Are y’all able to fit the LC into a garage? The LC is 76.2” in height. I have a nominal 7ft door in an old city garage. Measuring clearance to the lowest point is 80” so in theory it should clear. Replacing the door might gain me an extra inch or two as it’s bowed down. Grandma Keith probably hit it with a battering ram bumper in 1975 while trying to park the hood. Surely the rest of the car in those days had to stay out in the alley/driveway.

But. This is me trying to park the 24 F150 I test drove last week in the garage. I didn’t pull in farther than this. Though the F150 is only 1” taller than the LC if I read right & should still in theory fit. I love my hood & it’s in a great part of town, but property crime is still a reality so garageability is a requirement.

Current garage view. But the Bronco Sport is only 71.2” in height if I looked up the right number so I don’t even think about height restrictions when parking.

I wonder how one those wheels will last, vs the small steel wheels that are on most floor jacks…

I have 2 of the HF aluminum jacks........ game changer as far as moving, carrying, storage.

For ramps, Rhino Ramps Max Load are hard to beat. You can find them most places, HD, Lowe’s, AutoZone.

If you have decided to keep the stock wheels and tires after an upgrade, where are you storing them in your garage. Maybe a rack recommendation or any tips to prevent dry rot.

Tire Rack sells some decent storage racks. Only problem is that the tires+wheels are so darned heavy, lifting them onto a rack (especially a double decker) ain’t easy.

I think overhead storage racks are an excellent solution for this. I'm slowly working through my installation. I hope to have some progress updates soon.
