The following just popped up as I pulled into the driveway tonight after church. Nothing weird was happening. My only modification are some ditch lights wired directly into 12V power and a dedicated switch for the last 6 months.

In the back? I’ve never pulled it apart to get there. And I don’t have a multimeter.

Yes, there's a trim panel that easily pulls off for total access to the 12v battery. The reason I ask is before I replaced my battery, mine did some funky stuff due to a low battery. Once I trickle charged it, the messages disappeared until the next time the voltage dropped below 11.5 ish volts. Replaced the battery and there was still a parasitic draw, about 10 days until funky stuff started again, Installed a solar charger and haven't had an issue since.

Interesting. Well I’m bringing it by Toyota in the morning. I havent attempted to drive it at all since the messages popped up. Will it allow me to drive with those errors.

What would cause that kind of draw and low voltage within 25k miles? The ditch lights are wired with a relay and a factory style dash switch. I haven’t even turned them on in maybe a week, so I can’t imagine they would be pulling. I haven’t even turned a GMRS plugged into the 12v socket and an iPhone charger in the USB.

I'd for sure bring it up to the dealer as it might not be a declining battery and if it is you might get a new battery.

I don't have anything connected directly to the 12v battery, all my add on's are ran through manual circuit breakers, that I left in the OFF position, but there is a parasitic draw somewhere. It was to the point I was going to add a battery disconnect, but the solar keeps it topped off, now I leave the CBs on.

My theory is, some of the computers aren't going into sleep mode or something and the DC to DC inverter isn't set high enough to keep up with the parasitic draw (I don't think that is adjustable). In the old days stereo amps were notorious for shorting internal components (not to the point the stereo didn't work) and draining the battery.

I really appreciate the feedback. I did drive it up and down my block just to make sure it’ll drive in the morning. Ran fine. Used the turbo and the electric motor. Even switch to electric only at one point. Still all the error messages.

I was working on mine for a weekend, went to stat it and got a host of error messages, I can’t remember them currently. I jumped the battery with a charger pack. I took it to Toyota the next morning and they replaced the 12v battery as it was defective. Less than 5K miles and covered under warranty.

Seem like some rigs got some questionable 12 V batteries. With the battery issues in mind, I had my doors and rear hatch open for most of the day over the fourth and was curious to see if there was going to be an issue with the battery at the end of the day. Fortunately, there was no issue and it fired right up and there were no error messages.

So weird outcome. They said the battery tested fine. They found remnants of some kind of liquid underneath the shifter boot. Like someone spilled something on the shifter, and it leaked through. They said it caused a short that sent the computer into some kind of protective mode. They cleaned it up, and everything is back to normal.

That said, I am the only one who drives my 250--I have never spilled anything in it, much less on the shifter. So who knows?
