How do dealer allocations function?

Our dealer receives their allocations every other Tuesday. Is this true for all dealers in the NW region, and possibly all USA dealerships?

Back when I was waiting I thought it was Thursday or Friday on the west coast, but it changed over time. Some weeks were skipped entirely.

I suspect it is a point system based on volume and other incentives based on sales objectives.

I thought my dealer got them once a month. Still waiting on yours? That’s quite a wait. I would find another dealer if it were me.

Local dealers out here were getting weekly allocations, but sometimes with gaps. That was for most of 2024.

Wish I could! There are other dealers not terribly far away, but we are a single-vehicle couple, and having the dealer literally within walking distance is very convenient.

None of my business.... but I purchased my LC 2.5 hours away from my local dealer. I don't ever plan on having it serviced at the dealer where I bought it from and my local dealer didn't have an issue with servicing it.

Same. The dealer I ended up buying from is probably my least favorite in the area, but they had what I wanted and wanted it sold within 48 hours (end of the month). My local dealer will do all the servicing.

Likewise. I have noticed some dealers are good at selling and others are better at servicing. Few are really good at both.

That's very true of the two closest dealers to me, I've never successfully bought a Toyota from them!

Truth be known the dealer revenue, and sneaky tricks, is the service department. Luckly, our children typically give me a shout where startled with a "fear and doom" service estimate.

If no good news this coming Tuesday allocation day, it may be time to unhook and do the same. Trouble is, am a fanatic regarding proper break-in, and in the past traveling several hundred miles with a new vehicle has yielded bad results, in spite of attempting to do my best at varying the speed and throttle.
