Strangely, the GX Overtrail omits 3-zone HVAC, and the overhead vents. Probably would not risk the V6 at this juncture. However, do like the suspension, i.e. front and rear disconnect, for serious off-roading.

The Overtrail (non +) is also lacking leather, memory seats and HUD compared to the LCP. Some weird configuration decisions on Toyota's part.

For whatever it’s worth, my wife has a LC First Edition in MS and I just got a GX Overtrail in Nori Green. Really enjoying both trucks but have to say the GX is a great drive and the looks have quickly grown on me. We are each happy with our new rigs!

I personally live in Costa Rica where the roads are really in very bad conditions, so what is the most comfortable truck for you .... the Toyota LC or the Lexus 550, since you have both and as well as both are sold here (Costa Rica), but that I have little opportunity to try them in good conditions ?? ...

Hi in Costa Rica. I have owned many cars and trucks over the years but I am no expert. That said, we live in Vermont and there are far more dirt roads here than paved. I prefer my Lexus on washboard and severely potholed dirt roads. Just seems the the Overtrail front end soaks them up a little better than the FE. But both are excellent and each has certain features, and looks, to consider. Good luck in your purchase!

I find it amazing the obsession nowadays with 0-60 times, and not just referring to the LC. Geesh, it is primarily an off-roading vehicle. Maybe a Rivian? Agree re the optioning, probably not wishing to impact the announced 2025 4Runner.

I drive a lot of 2 lane highways, passing opportunities can be short, and there are a lot of dawdling tourists and slow drivers. When opportunities to pass present themselves a vehicle that can get with the program is greatly appreciated. The faster a vehicle can accelerate the more opportunities there are to safely make a passing maneuver.

A 0-60 time is a decent enough indicator of acceleration ability, and in this day and age 8+ seconds is glacial. The 50-80 time probably also will suck, and that’s not going to work for me.

The GX550 with its higher continuous power output is clearly significantly more capable of meaningful acceleration. It’s too bad Toyota is choosing to dumb down the Land Cruiser with a Tacoma powertrain that clearly struggles. If this was a $45K 4Runner I could accept it, but this is a $60-$70K premium offering.

If a Lexus dealer were closer this wouldn’t even be a contest.

Toyota should offer the LC with the V35A-FTS/10 speed and E-KDSS. The hybrid seems to not live up to expectations anyway so it is pointless.

These are both older comments, but since this thread has been revived, figured I'd comment for anyone that stumbles into this thread while doing their own research...

I agree with Nuke's point above regarding 0-60, though I'm actually a bit surprised that the 0-60 times folks get aren't a bit quicker, too be honest, because the vehicle FEELS quicker than that...

I think a lot of it has to do with how the powertrain is tuned, which simply isn't for prolonged acceleration...but it does really nicely when it comes to shorter bursts. When you hit the gas pedal to accelerate, both the hybrid motor and turbo will spool up very quickly and give you almost instant torque and power, even at lower cruising RPM... if you're on the highway at 50 MPH and need to pass, getting up to 65-70 MPH quickly is NOT a problem, at all...

it's honestly at the higher RPMs where it seems to level off in terms of ability to accelerate, so if you're really pushing it, it will start to behave more like a boxy SUV with a gas engine in that regard.

In other words, for about 90% of people, and in particular those that are used to driving these types of vehicles, I think the performance of the powertrain will be more than adequate, if not actually impressive at times. No, I'm probably not winning any drag races off the line, but I've NEVER had an issue asking the vehicle for a quick burst of speed when passing on the highway (I can't say the same for older generation Tacomas and 4Runners I've owned, if I'm being honest). If you're looking for a vehicle tuned for speed and performance, the LC (or the GX) is probably not it...but for a more utilitarian, off-road capable SUV, it does surprisingly well.

After a fairly decent road trip in our LC I stand by my statements in the quoted post.

The Land Cruiser would be quite a bit better on two lane highways with an additional 50-60HP.
