Wife just moved on from a 2023 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road back into a Jeep. We owned a 2021 JEEP JL 3.0 Turbo Diesel before the Rav4, but sold it due to our son putting unleaded in it. I went to the Jeep dealership and test drove the Wrangler and Gladiator before letting my wife know my thoughts.
First, both trims are Willy's with the 3.6 Pentastar, and automatics.
Driving them both, the roof area was ambiently warm the entire time, the road noise was crazy loud with the factory MT's, and the driving view was shrunken down.
After describing to her what they have and the deals she likes, the gladiator Willy's in an anvil color. It's a very nice color and reminds me of a darker lunar rock.
Drove it around some more after purchasing, and just can't make myself like the powertrain and the steering feel. It feels like you can crank the wheel forever to make a 90-degree turn, and the steering play is crazy. The 8 speed is nice, but with a lift and maybe 35's, I can see performance really going downhill without throwing more money at it for a regear.
To me, it is night and day driving the new Toyota LC I-Force Max powertrain vs a competitor's V6. It was one of those feelings where you expect more from other vehicles after reading about how bad the LC is from "Youtubers" but give up and just admit we own the best new vehicle sold today. The commanding view while driving, the planted driving experience, minimal road noise, and a better build quality overall, its just hard to beat.
