First Land Cruiser 2025 or 2026 ??

As far as towing goes, the GX and the LS produce almost identical HP and TQ, he identical chassis less slightly different suspensions depending on GX trim, so it comes down to two things in re to towing, the transmission and power train mild hybrid vs straight NA. I've towed a friend's 7,000 pound trailer with my LS around town just to see what it felt like, slow and at speed, flat and up uphill, and I could tell it was there compared to a 4,000 pound trailer, but it didn't exactly struggle. Where I think one would really notice and where you'd want to watch would be up mountain passes when your hybrid battery is depleted, and you're running on the gasoline only, as well as descending where you might have that load really pushing forces back up through the tranny. All in all though I wouldn't be worried about towing at 6,000 pounds at all.

Hello all - torn between ordering a 2025 or 26 4Runner TRD pro vs the LC premium 2026 - switching my good old 5th gen 4R (off road) .. wondering if there are any insights on 2026 changes or updates for the LC ?
Have you driven them all? I only ask because there are some differences not discussed on youtube videos and by armchair “car reviewers” in general.

I drove all 3 (LC, 4R, 4R hybrid : LCLC, TRD OR Prem, TRD OR). They each have their own characteristics and overall on-road characteristics.

Between any G6 4R and the LC, there are differences you can judge just sitting between the two on the same lot. The 4R definitely does the same thing 4Rs have always done, and that is posture the driver in a sportier way. Lower sitting position with feet more forward and up. The LC seat is more traditionally setup like a truck, encouraging a more upright posture and feet down. These physical characteristics were significant enough of a difference that it weighed heavily in my decision making.

Ultimately, I had a TRD Pro allocation with a $2k deposit that I rolled into a LC 1958. I also had my pick of almost every trim/config of 4R day one, as the dealership received two trucks without prior warning the morning I went to drive one.

The 3 things that I’m indecisive on are :

1- internal storage vs limited storage on the LC
2- all time 4wd vs the part time on the 4runner
3- clearance vs limited clearance on the LC for deep snow

Point 1- nothing I can do about :( unless Toyota listens to the community and do some changes!! Which is highly unlikely as that will include redesign of the interior !

Point 2- I would like to hear the owners opinions - or recommendations especially for Canadian winters and snowy Weather conditions - mostly on road use - my old 4R did well for years in many snow storms but wondering if the full time 4wd would make any difference vs better ground clearance with part time 4wd when needed ? Definitely the slightly bigger fuel tank on the TRD pro takes the extra point vs. The LC :)

For point 3 - I appreciate if anyone can guide me if I can gain ~ 1” lift with just replacing tires/wheels without a lift -i.e on factory suspension with no trimming or having the tires extend beyond the fenders ? If so any recommendations on tires/wheel sizes/details?

The ground clearance difference between my 5th gen 4R at 9.6” and new LC at 8.7” is 0.9” compared to an extra 0.5” lift with the new TRD pro at 10.1” clearance .., I’m good with the 9.6” clearance worked well for me in many snow storms :) - any feedback back would be appreciated helps me get closer to a decision …

Thank you.
An inch of snow compresses to less than 1mm....food for thought

I wouldn't be surprised if the "special" colors (Heritage Blue, Trail Dust) get replaced with other signature colors within the next model year or two, but past that, I wouldn't expect anything too radical from Toyota...they've always kept a very conservative/traditional approach when it comes to styling for anything with the "Land Cruiser" name plate.

So yeah, maybe a red or green variety, but probably not a Cement, and definitely nothing like Solar Octane. Personally, I think the LC 250 would look great in their Blueprint color, but that's another one I doubt will ever be offered....I guess we'll see...
Army Green

Prime reason I went with the 1st White vehicle I have owned in 24years. Wind Chill Pearl. Always have liked the White pearls so went that direction for a change.

Army Green
I think something like Fashion Green or Breathe Green will replace Heritage Blue in the next 1-2 model years. Maybe next year you get Fashion Green with the White/Grey roof and the all Heritage Blue continues? They might also replace Trail Dust at the same time, but who knows.

1) Depends on the model, 2026 model year will have the 'cool box' optional apparently. It's a pretty legit feature but limits the already very limiting space in the LC unless you go 1958. You likely have a lot more OEM interior space in a 4R. Some remedies on the aftermarket for the LC.
2) full-time vs. part-time, no comparison in the snow. My wife is not great with part-time systems (especially when it's mixed highway/snow), huge factor of even looking at the LC's was the fact they are one of the few full-time 4WD vehicles on the highway. If you don't live where it snows, it's not a problem, but it's a big deal out here that would heavily sway my decision.
3) Assuming you live somewhere where it snows often, you can never have enough clearance. I'd like to say the LC has 'adequate' clearance for virtually everything you would do with it in the snow on the highway, and an inch or so difference isn't enough to make a difference between a LC / 4R. Outside of that, I'd want a 2-2.5" lift and 33-35" tires with chains. Typically, you're stuck well before 'clearance' becomes a concern in snow.

1- I checked with the dealers and to my knowledge the only thing changing for 2026 is the default blackout badges - If you have any additional details on changes for 2026 please share as I'm in the final stages of evaluating the options. - i.e. - if the standard Landcruiser trim has power passenger seats I'll opt for that :)

2- I'm sold on the all time 4wd Capabilities - no question about that i'm sure it's way better than the part time on my 4R.
3- Agree - For Clearance I'm aiming to swap the 20" with 18" wheels and get slightly bigger tires
