Hi LC forum!

Introducing our latest product... Dongar PRO! This novel USB adapter converts your rearview mirror (or plugs into the 5-pin OEM dashcam adapter in the domelight cavity) into a power source for your dashcam or USB device, all in under 5 minutes . Not only does this mean hiding messy wires, your dashcam stays ON after you've shut the vehicle off, thanks to intelligent parking mode!

How does this work?
Toyota/Lexus provides both constant-on and ignition-switched wires to the mirror to power the garage door buttons. In the 4G Tacoma, new Land Cruisers, new 4Runners etc, they’ve even provisioned a power connector specifically for dash cams. Our USB buck converter provides 5V/9V/12V output over its USB-C port continuously via the constant-on and reads it to monitor your truck's battery voltage. The ignition-switched wire is read out to determine when the vehicle is on, or if there’s an over voltage condition, etc.

What are the features?
The adapter has 3 modes:
1) ignition: your dashcam turns on and off with your Tacoma’s ignition

2) continuous: your dashcam stays on all the time, as long as your truck’s 12V battery is above the low-voltage protection threshold. This was designed to minimize draining your battery below engine cranking levels.

3) timed mode: keeps your dashcam powered on for 4 hours after turning the ignition off. There’s many use cases for this, but one example is when you tend to park you car in the garage at night/weekend and therefore don’t need true 24/7 parking mode except when you go in errands around town, and on average most vehicles are parked in public parking lots less than 4hrs at a time. The 4 hour timer resets each time you turn the ignition off.

How do you install it??
The Dongar PRO module sticks directly onto your windshield.

What's included?
We include 3 different wiring harnesses: 12pin, 5pin, and 10pin. The Land Cruiser has a 10pin connector at the rearview mirror and a 5pin connector in the domelight cavity (this is actually provisioned from the factory to use the Toyota OEM dashcam!)

Thanks for posting this Dongar. I plan to install a Blackvue 2-channel dashcam in my 2024 Land Cruiser 1958. I've hardwired 4-5 Blackvue cameras in prior vehicles, typically to the fuse box. The Blackvue has 3 wires to connect (always on, ignition on, and ground). The Blackvue already has a voltage sensor.

Do I still need your Dongar voltage sensor if the Blackvue already has one? Does your wire connector have a 3 wire output?

Thanks Dongar folks, very interesting! I would like to install a front view and a rear view camera on my 2025 LC. I see all the instructions in your website refer only to the front view camera installation. I also noticed that the Dongar pro has only one USB-C output port. Do you have already a solution to install two cameras? For example, the Garmin Cam X110 on the front windshield and the Garmin Cam Mini on the rear windshild.

Land Cruiser Compatibility Chart

Before reviewing this chart, please note:

  • Your vehicle must be equipped with a factory-installed auto-dimming mirror for the 10-Pin adapter to transmit power to your device.
  • Digital mirrors are not compatible.
  • Compatibility can vary by region, trim, and year. We always recommend reviewing our adapter guide before purchasing.
  • INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Compatibility may vary based on country. Check your vehicle for the correct connector before purchasing. Learn more.
So, if I have the digital mirror, I can't install any of your products?

There's a separate cable if you want to use the built in dash cam cable vs. the mirror cable. I have a digital mirror and the Dongar Pro is working fine for me.

You can email them on their web site and they will get back to you pretty quickly.

Dongar pro does not come up on AMZ??
The link does not work as well.
Not sure what to purchase.
Dash cam folks, what is a really good dash cam to sue with this Dongar set up, this is really cool.
I found the kit, now what would a top end camera be?
Thx.

I was hoping to pair it with a FitcamX.

Just so I’m clear on this… I have a 1958 with the OEM dashcam (that only works when the truck senses an incident or if I push the record button). This product will allow it to record all the time?

It has three options for when to provide power to the dash cam:

1. Ignition mode - it will only power the dash cam when the ignitition is on and car is running.

2. Timed - it will power the dash cam when the ignititio is on and the car is running AND also for 4 hours after the car turns off. (I think it's 4, but remember exactly.

3. Continuous - it will power the dash cam always, regardless of whether the car is on.

It's a little switch on the device so you can change it any time you want. I don't know anything about the OEM cam so I'm not sure if that has a continuous recording mode or not, it might be a dash cam issue.

I have a Viofo and when I get in and turn on my car, it tells me "recording" and then when I turn off the car, I get the power down sound from the cam.

Yea I’ll have to reach out to them and see if it’s compatible with the OEM dashcam or it needs replacing, thanks for info though!

Does anyone know if this will fit will “Land Cruiser model”. Not with premium, model. Large plastic molding around my mirror. Thanks for any info.

Just installed a VIOFO with the 5pin adapter behind the map lights (what a pain to get off, only possible with your biggest trim tool and a scary amount of pull).
Doesn’t seem like it’s constant on and able to power the dashcam in parking mode? Unless I’m missing something.

Are you using the Dongar Pro? It’s the rectangular black thing with a switch on it. If so, make sure the switch is in the middle position

I’m using the normal 5pin USB adapter, I assumed that it just was missing the ability to switch off/adjust time of power on. I just needed a continuous on port

Did you get it to work with a FitcamX?
I haven't installed a dash cam yet. I did talk to Dongar about compatibility with Fitcamx, they said I'd need an adaptor to convert the barrel connector from the Fitcamx to a USB Type C connector. One can be purchased for a few $ off Amazon.
