2024 Land Cruiser
Couldn’t stand the hybrid engine, mine wasn’t smooth at all, when the engine shut down it felt like it was stalling out.. And it just didn’t have the performance I wanted. And totally lame it doesn’t have a front locker.

My new vehicle does!

The prado had a good run, but this one puts a smile on my face. Couldn’t turn down MSRP and top dollar trade on the Land Cruiser.

I can understand some of your logic, such as the lack of a front locker, but you went for an apparently longer wheelbase. Presumably the desired front locker would be for chasing difficult winding trails, and you lost much of that ability with the new vehicle. In any case, wishing you success in your off-roading endeavors.

I am glad you found something you like. However, MTS with Torsen center diff and ATrac is a superior technical solution to a locking front differential.
Actually, no it’s not. An active system with all diffs locked is superior to a reactive system using wheel braking. Toyota’s torsen setup seriously struggles transferring power unless the center differential is locked, and even requires it to be in 4lo center locked for max benefit, and with the center locked, how is the torsen superior? I honestly felt the MTS setup in my 24 4Runner was better than the Landcruiser and responded to slip better.

I have gotten my LC stuck a few times leaving it in 4hi unlocked, MTS didn’t really do squat until the center differential was locked, and even then for some reason it couldn’t figure things out until going into 4lo locked.

Multiple videos shows how disappointing the torsen setup is.

Gotta do what ya gotta do.

The RR is a fun truck. There are some things I feel Ford (I have an F150, not RR) got right that Toyota (not LC specific) does not. I'm not getting rid of my LC though.

Get Forscan, get their recommended OBD connector, it is worth it.

The f150 raptor is the only car that I was considering and still sometimes wish I had gotten. I drive a lot and the gas burn on the commute would be rough. Enjoy!

I hope to one day have an lc and a raptor :)

It’s great you’ve found a vehicle to like. I’ve never been in one, a ranger raptor, but the Raptor is a pretty nice vehicle. Ford did a great job delineating between the high end and base models. Hope it last as long as you want and you enjoy it.

That 250 you got rid of is my twin, hope the next owner loves it. Mine. I think, is the bees knees. Good luck.

I guess the guys doing the testing and you don’t know how to spline the front and rear prop shaft together with the center diff lock?

Well stupid can’t be fixed.

Good luck with your new truck.

I think I know how our friend got top $ for the LC (besides Toyota holding their value better than any other brand...) Here's an example of a Raptor for sale in Portland. Not his, but, gives a ballpark idea of cost for the Raptor. Cool truck. But, not really a comp for the LC.

Not to rain on the parade, but maybe take a minute to watch one of several EcoBoost V6 teardowns on the I Do Cars YouTube channel. Knowing how they fail might be helpful.

Torsens are used in humvees lol, it literally is battle tested. It is a superior solution compared to wet clutch transfer case ford uses in raptors that is not used in any type of heavy duty vehicle since they brake easily. It is superior in any condition where you need tight cornering or when the surface is slippery (sand, mud, ice or snow) as it does not decrease turning radius and is fully mechanical.

I don’t understand the whole you need to lock the central diff argument. Yeah sure, and you can lock it if needed. It is not like that is something that is not available. But is is a fact that you cannot not unlock a wet clutch transfer case the same way an unlocked torsen performs.

I am also kinda meh on front lockers. They have the same benefits or rear lockers but with significantly more drawbacks. I would rather have a central torsen and true fulltime 4wd than a front lockers with wet clutch transfer case that provides something in between full time and part time 4wd.

The engine shutoff was implemented on many Jeep long before Toyota. I drove a Prius and to be honest even on Prius you can feel it quite obviously. I feel Land Cruiser is between Prius and Jeep in terms of that engine shutoff-off / turn-on switch. This is probably purely caused by the engine vibration, not really indicating the design quality.

I worked with Toyota before, still remember my first thought with them - “Guys we are not in Jurassic age” was what I feel. If even dinosaur decide to do things this way, I feel comfortable with its quality. In this case I think some drivers just couldn’t get their minds around it. Not right or wrong. It takes time to get used to it and that’s it.

Ranger raptors can be had for 5-6k off msrp now .
Is it a better truck than lc?
It’s got its advantages
Better suspension, engine drivetrain .

But heavily compromised in terms of interior bed space.
F150 / Bronco raptor are the ones to get.
