From that... Man! I don't know if I should talk about potential dash repair, that stupid driver monitoring camera that can't be turned off, or confess my own "sins of the past". So, all 3-
I hate that camera. And don't just throw a promotional sticker over the top because the adhesive might transfer from the sticker to the outer lens and really get stuck. But it can be taken off with isopropyl alcohol... just saying.
Adhesives really can be a problem as evidenced by me trying to move the tollway transponder from the previous vehicle into the LC. Half of the 'good' hook n loop material originally sent to mount the device left on the windshield of the trade in so I bought some at Wally-World and reinstalled. Driving to Houston a couple of weeks ago allowed the hook/loop bond to the windshield to see its first real heat. The replacement material used IS NOT heat tolerant. That resulted in a good startle response out of me with a sneak attack while cruising.
Later after getting home and discovering that the isopropyl worked well on cleaning up the camera window but wouldn't touch the Wally-World loop on the windshield, out came the single edged razor blade. End result- much of the adhesive is still there and I managed to chop the steering wheel with the blade right in the 4 o clock position where you can feel it under your fingers whenever you put your hands where you're supposed to. About an inch long wound complete with a flappy part to make sure you can't ignore it.
So, I repaired the steering wheel with Loctite product
Masking the area around the cut first with painters tape, I applied a small amount of glue to the cut while pulling it gently open to get adhesive inside the cut. I smoothed the top of the applied glue with a piece of sheet UHMWPE producing a smooth surface. The adhesive set up, cured and I can't feel the cut anymore. Success.
It might be possible to do something similar on the dash...
All I need to do now is to get the rest of the adhesive off the windshield... maybe a heat gun...
had a little snafu with the heat gun trying to apply a tint lol… I know I know!, I’m hoping someone could tell me exactly what dash part this is. It’s just the foam pad and I’m afraid cause it says airbag that this might be a big deal
