Accident in my precious LC!

One month out from the collision as of today. LC still in the body shop. Total at $18K as of today. Apparently painting hood, fender and bumper parts and then re-assembly. I hope to have better news a week from today. They supposedly have all the parts they need (and there are a lot of them, but all OEM!). I know my car is not the only one in the busy body shop, but the spotty communication is maddening!

Drive carefully out there!
hope you get it back next week. After they get it all painted, they should be able to get all assembly done in a day or so I would think. Glad for you it's all OEM.

My advice here, don't even answer the phone from Progressive. They called me and my wife multiple times and then started texting us. I told them to go through USAA and no direct contact, USAA will only use OEM parts.

If the other party is at fault (USAA can confirm with you) don't accept Progressive as handling the claim, let USAA handle it and charge Progressive on their own, they will immediately waive the deductible in this case.
Make me wonder if I should ditch Progressive and speak out other insurance..

I did speak with the other driver's (the one at fault) Progressive agent and he just confirmed a few things and asked if I wanted them to handle the claim or my insurance, USAA, and I chose to stick with USAA as they already had me in a large SUV rental and have always been great to work with. The Progressive agent said they would be taking full responsibility (since the other driver admitted to and police assigned him the fault) and therefore USAA will not make me pay my deductible in the end. After the LC is repaired to my liking, I plan to go after them for diminished value, which I'm sure won't be easy!

I've got an appointment in a couple weeks (assuming it's complete) at my dealership for the squealing brake TSB fix and 25K service, so plan to ask them to check over everything. USAA has said that I can seek further payment on the claim if the dealership finds anything.

6 weeks and $19K later, she's back! Shop did an amazing job and used all OEM parts. Paint is perfect and can't even tell that anything ever happened. So happy about the outcome. Still some gremlins with the pedestrian sensing calibration and I'll take it to Toyota this week to have them fix that.

Now time to start out, fitting her for camping in Colorado!

Very glad for you. I was 11 weeks, was brutal. Have had 2700 perfect miles since and wishing you all better luck. Looks great.

Final update for anyone following or wanting to know how to handle an accident like this. 5 months after the accident, I heard from Progressive (the other guy's insurance) with approval for a $2600 diminished value payment. I used the 17C formula (google it) as justification for my request.

Vehicle has been just as good as before the accident and performed perfectly in my camping/overland long haul fall trip to Colorado as well as some crazy winter snow/ice - worked like a champ! Being a relatively new design, I was lucky that the shop used all OEM parts, because no aftermarket parts are widely available yet. I let my insurance, USAA, handle the claim, rental and all aspects and it went smoothly. Never had any contact with the other driver after the day of the accident and that was nice!
