changing spark plugs

Changed the spark plugs on my LC yesterday - one of the easiest maintenance items to knock out. The most difficult part of the job is removing the electrical connector from the ignition coils, which just requires a little patience. I followed the Toyota procedure and torqued the plugs to 15 ft*lbs and the ignition coil bolts to 66 in*lbs. Before replacing the ignition coils, I put a little bit of dielectric grease in the boot of the coil (where it attaches to the spark plug.) My understanding is that using the dielectric grease here is good practice.

I'm including sa pic of the plugs - I'm no expert, but I think they still look pretty good.

I bought the plugs online from a local Toyota dealer and paid about $100 delivered with tax and free shipping.

You only have to disconnect the electrical connector from the rear plug. The other three you can lift the coil out still connected. This is more for those who have not done the service yet.

I found that it would've been difficult on my LC to remove the ignition coils without putting a lot of stress on the wiring harness. So, I chose to remove the connector before removing the coils. I'd guess that the variability in the length of the wiring harness might also impact your ability to remove the coils without removing the connectors. YMMV

They are not coated in oil. If you'd like to see them up close, then I can take some higher res photos and post them, The lighting also wasn't great for the photo. I did not see a ton of carbon buildup, but the plugs also weren't perfectly clean. I'd describe the color of the tips as tan.

I've run premium fuel 100% of the time since I bought the LC new. I change the oil about every 4000 miles using Amsoil Signature Series 0W-20. I typically run a fuel injector cleaner of some type through the system once every 2K miles or so.

The interesting thing to know would be the gap measurement in the old plug. Might be the angle, but they look like they have a larger gap than the new ones (in your pic and in others).
