Thanks for the correction on being able to lock center in high-range. Thinking about it some more, a good application for this would probably be when driving on sand at higher speeds. On icy roads I’d still like to rely on the Torsen.

Yea, I am lost when it comes to all that high tech stuff on Miss Daisy.Toyota really needs to publish a supplement dedicated to clarifying the optimal use of the numerous overlapping off road systems and technologies. With the LC full time 4WD, Torsen differentials, ATRAC, crawl control, and MTS, the value proposition for lockers is growing smaller and smaller.....
Welcome to the asylum grandsons.Hello,
Concerning drive, torque and locking stuff, it is not because a wheel axle receives power that the force is transmitted to the ground, don't forget the tire-ground interface and car center of gravity. For example, the power transmitted to the ground of a 4WD car can change from traction to propulsion with the associated instabilities depending on the properties of the ground. I've seen spins, with the driver completely surprised at losing control being assured with all differentials locked, all wheels will propulse the vehicle evenly.
