I made many changes last night to my 2024 LC/LC with Premium Package. Everything worked except for the Rear hatch walk away kick sensor even though I enabled it. Not sure if anyone else has had any success with that?

Thanks for the write-up. This is helpful.

I would add that Carista is not strictly necessary, any bi-directional scan tool can make those customization changes.

I made some of those changes with my Launch X431 Pro and it is available in my buddies Autel scanner as well.

Carista is great option and far less expensive than buying a bi-directional scanner, but if you have one, they can do the same job.

For the "Daytime running lights" option under Exterior Lighting, if "ON" is selected, does this mean the DRLs stay on even when headlights are on?

I do not know for sure, but I thought that it meant DRL on/off all together, not on along with headlights.

Yeah, you're probably right, but it seems odd to have that option when the DRLs can be turned off using the left stalk switch that controls the lights.

Thanks for sharing this OP. Has anyone been able to change the count on the lane change turn signal? I’d like to change it but I get an error (doesn’t take, button doesn’t save) when I try. I tried with the Carista app and with my XTool D8. No love…

I changed mine. IIRC you can change from 3 to 5 or 7. I changed mine to whatever the highest is to aid in lane change assist in case its in use. Also changed the volume on it to max since I'm aged and deaf!

I have xhorse mini-vci J2534 device and can connect via Toyota GTS+ application via my laptop and J2354 to the OBDII port ( 3 day subscription required at a minimum). It allows full diagnostics and everything the dealer can do minus program keys, you need a license for key programming.

It’s too bad there isn’t an option to disable the loud, long beep when closing the trunk. Anyone find something for this yet?

Would be super helpful for those of us that sleep inside the truck at campsites, trailheads, and other places where discretion is key

I did not know there was a kick sensor to open and close the trunk. Am I reading that correctly? I have the 2024, FE LC. Thanks. Dr. M

No kick sensor on the LC250, there is a note about that parameter in GTS+ being not applicable, same for heated seat adjustment, engine sound enhancement.

FYI there is quite allot more that is customizable in GTS+. I lost the one of the two files I downloaded from TIS so I don't have a complete list ATM.

This is list of useful to me items I made. The second is one of the two documents from TIS listing about half of what is available.

A few years ago now I bought a BMW ICOM Next A from a BMW specialty shop that went out of business, (which is BMW's version of the J2354 pass-through programming device) to program and update modules in my BMWs. I felt bad for the owners of the shop, two young kids who thought that there was a market for the outsourcing of modding of BMWs, think big turbos, upgraded exhaust systems, etc., unfortunately, while they did really good work and they had customers, neither of them knew how to run a business and that was what ultimately killed them.

I have also used the BMW ICOM Next successfully with GM SPS2/Techline Connect to update a few modules in a buddies GMC Sierra, so maybe it would work with Toyota's GTS+, but I have not tried that as of yet. According to GM, no 3rd party J2354 passthrough device will work with SPS2/Techline Connect, but it worked with the BMW version without issue, so IDK.

I have found that my Launch X431 bi-directional scanner can make most (if not all) the customization changes without firing up the manufacturers software, but programming and updating modules is something only the OEM software can do.

I don't see why it wouldn't work the J2354 is a protocal standard, so shouldn't be an issue. The one I have cost me $54.00 at the time I bought quite awhile back for my Tundra, its still not too bad today price wise considering the proper tool from Toyota's manufacturer is over 3k.

I was amazed how many soft faults were present after delivery when I connected the vehicle to GTS+ with less than 30 miles on the ODO, somewhere between 50-60 faults, mostly communication errors from various ECUs. I'm guessing the dealers aren't doing the full pre-delivery service as outlined by Toyota, as evidenced by this, over inflated tires and the like. The failures are likely from removing the D/C cut fuse during transport as none of the isolation tests failed and once reset remained cleared. I'll find out next time I connect if that is the case from a few disconnects I've done while performing electrical work.

Do you have a link to where you downloaded an got the subscription from? I want to enable the exterior courtesy lights on my 1958 so I can use the step connector for some lights.

Here you go:

https://techinfo.toyota.com/ No downloading is required its all online, you can download documents while in there but otherwise everything is online.

There won't be a setting to enable the harness in the customize parameters but you'd need a compatible J2354 device if that were possible for that anyway and that can also be found at the same link and requires the professional diagnostic 3 day subscription at a minimum for TIS you just need the Standard 3 day.

If there is no power present your going to have to research in TIS what the wiring differences are. Could be a fuse not installed or other but may even be that one of the ECUs would require a different software/firmware version to make it work. Since they integrate with the approach function, unlock and lock function as well as light control it may not be possible?

Just wanted to let you know it will take allot of research and you may not find anything out. I'd start with identifying the harness and connector in TIS it's likely called an option connector found under exterior lighting section and then look up the connector itself to get the complete pinout.

I added options to my base Tundra but many of them required additional wiring in the already installed connectors to be able to make them work. So that is why I'd start with researching the connectors, it will show you what wires are installed in each pin location as well as the color when you click on the pin # listed for the connector. That and the schematics will be where you'll possibly find why it isn't powered. Be good to ask what someone that has lights from factory has for the wires for the pin and color in their connectors.

Also allot of the electrical components are control by variance of what I'd call ground potential vice voltage (ie 12VDC is always present or present with accessory power and the ground potential is varied to operate the function. The step lights IIRC are one of those components where the ground goes from not present to a ramp up as the light brightens and a ramp down as it fades to off. I'm pretty sure when I was checking mine that two pins had voltage at 12VDC and 9VDC (when off) IIRC and as the light came on the so called ground lead dropped in voltage as the light got brighter down to around 3VDC. I think when I checked the same wire with the lights off for resistance it appeared as a ground. I'd have to check again to be sure?

Sorry for the long post!

I did do some checking and I have a constant 12v on the center pin of the connector when using a known good ground on the chassis. I saw in the manual that the outside mirror lights are tied into that circuit too and those can be enabled by the Toyota. My LC is a 1958 so I am pretty certain that all that is not enabled. The manual says on by default then it has a little note that says if equipped.

I went right to Carista Web Page and bought. Less than 80.00 for both App and programer with 1 year member.
