I see someone has custom Hood/bonnet struts for the 70 series already. Has anyone seen anything yet for the 250? Seems like Toyota should have included this at least on the Land Cruiser and First Edition trims...

I purchased some for my Tacoma from Redline Tuning, They haven't listed the LC yet, but I'm pretty sure they will in the near future.

I was wondering the same thing. It will be nice when more of these are out in the wild and owners start to compare what parts are interchangeable.

Most probably, they mount on the underside of the hood and on the top of the inner fender bolt tray.

Not going to get OEM struts at $117 per, after market kits will be out soon.

Amazon's $45 hood struts. They fit okay. Let's see how long they last.

I bought some on Amazon and they do not fit! The struts would not close enough to latch to the other side! They were very very stiff and took a lot of force to close… sending back… I’m waiting for real ones

After a week or so, the struts have improved (somewhat). When I first installed them, I had to actually lift the hood to the full open height and it would hold it open, but if I let go before being fully opened, it would slam back down. Today the struts lifted the hood with a single finger of upward pressure (No effort at all) and held it in position after 10" of vertical travel, so I up the quality by 1 notch (whatever a notch is) I am now satisfied for the money I paid.

Link please?

Installed the Amazon ones and they worked fine...took a few mins to adjust.
My only suggestion if you are a little OCD, out tape over the hood bolts as the white paint scuffs easily.

Anyone else with the Amazon kit have issues with the struts leaking? Went to open my hood today, and there was zero assist with the struts. Looking at the closer, both appear to have leaked and no longer work...
Waiting to hear back from Amazon seller on warranty.

Redline finally has them for our Land Cruiser’s. Easy install and they work great!

Not super keen on drilling.. but thats certainly an option. I could also measure the size and buy replacements.

Redline supplies you with the needed ‘step drill’ to enlarge the already present hole in underside of the hood.

If you decide to go with Redline, they recommend tightening that fitting with a 13 mm deep socket. Actually, 13 mm is too large for that fitting, and it rounded the edges of that fitting. A 7/16” deep socket works perfect perfectly.

Definitely not a confidence inspiring incident.

The reseller on Amazon sent me a new set as I complained that one had a large, mostly cosmetic scratch on it. The first set haven't leaked - my replacements are still in a box. Maybe you will get lucky and get a replacement set from the seller.

Seller has gone quiet and not replying, so left a bad review. Not super confident that will matter, with a bunch of different sellers on Amazon with them now. Now to decide if I go the same route with a different seller, Redline, or try to source my own replacements.

My Redline struts are awesome. Here's a link to my install:
