Anyone using a FitcamX....

It just occurred to me that hard wiring like I outlined above, would only allow the cam to work when the switch is "on"...... no point in having a switch. A better solution would be to install a relay where the relay's normally closed state (not energized) would route power via a "ACCY" power source and when the relay is energized state, it would receive pwr from an "always hot" power source.

This way would allow the camera to operate whenever the vehicle is driving/normal operation and when you press the switch it would continue to record until you pressed the switch to turn in off. If you really wanted to get fancy, you could install a "delayed off" module.

They sell a kit to hard wire the camera for parking mode. You'd just have to purchase the relay/switch.

I'm not sure how much that kit would cost, but the "cube" switch runs about 23-25 bucks, and a relay less than 5 bucks, a couple of fuse taps probably less than 10 bucks........ so for approx $50 you could have a "always on" and a "ACCY" power source inside the cabin which could be used to power additional items etc...........

But folks should do what they are comfortable with.

This is all great food for thought. I've been emailing back and forth with FitcamX Support. They have 2 cables that will work for the 250/550 to give parking mode. 1. the Toyota/Lexus Fuse cable. This cabling works to provide power when the vehicle is off, however the recording only takes place if the G Sensor in the camera feels a "bump"...like a collision (someone hitting your car while parked). 2. The OBD2 cable...this cable allows the above parking mode AND a 24/7 continuous recording mode. The 24/7 mode is manually turned on or off, and when on...it's recording all of the time, until you turn it off. When off, the parking mode feature (car bumped, recording happens) turns on.

I asked them about why couldn't I just wire the cam hot and use an internal switch (which I like because when I park at a store, I can turn the switch on, and then turn it off when finished and it won't come back on until I manually tell it to). I think it has to do with the app sensing their obd2 or toyota/lexus fuse cable. Sounds like there would be not software functionality to turn their parking mode on. You would only have 24/7 mode, but that wouldn't be available in their app.

Still working on getting answers to this.

Is there a sensitivity level that can be set in the settings?
