I have a F-350 Lariat that's my car I suppose? Glad to be traveling in it the past few weeks considering the interior room, storage in the bed and 4 wheel drive. Very comfortable on the road and achieving 25+ MPG with PowerStroke HO engine.

I've been snooping around looking for late model Certified / low mile mid-sized sedans to add to the stall for this reason. In particular Audi A6 55 S-Line or BMW 540i M-Sport.
The 2024 / 2025 Certified models from Audi / BMW dealers with fewer than 10k miles are really a lot of bang for your buck. $70k cars you can buy for $45kish...which is generally $25k less than MSRP with 4 + years left of factory warranty
and the major hit of depreciation out of them.

Interested if anyone has also thought about this....

2023 Audi A6 55-S-Line. Took it out yesterday and ripped up some mountain roads. Fantastic vehicle!

My wife has a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Its a hoot to drive, 0 issues, and I dont have to worry about oil changes.
It's amazing how much convenience they packed into a $50k car. Pretty much every brand can learn something from Tesla

If I lived near a dealer and felt I could justify the expense an M-B E450 wagon would be on my shortlist. Plus any of the ridiculous top spec German super wagons like the BMW M5 wagon, M-B E63 AMG, or the Audi RS6.

Keep them for 3-4 years then move on.

Forgive me for being overly specific on reliability “only” rating, although in the reliability only report its still very high and right there with the top asian brands.

I worked for a BMW dealer for a couple of years after getting out of the USMC.

There is no way in hell I would ever own one unless it were under warranty, and I was within a 1 to 1.5 hour drive from the dealership.

If that is your plan go for it. Otherwise avoid the German stuff, they’re shiny and they go fast but they are not long term propositions.

Just like Europe in general they’re all about appearances with no solidity underneath.

I put almost 150,000 miles on my 2015 Audi A6 Prestige. The car was solid as a rock too and a blast to drive. It's had a total of 1 major issues over the years that I owned it, outside of general maintenance, brakes, tires etc. The incident was covered by the CPO warranty and related to the steering column. They're expensive to maintain, but I maintain my vehicles to a T inside and out and always change the oil at 5,000. Bulletproof. Been driving them for 20 years and am driving a '23 now and my nephew is driving that 2015.

I have a 2005 Volkswagen Phaeton V8. Albeit quite antiquated, I managed to retrofit a backup camera LCD mirror and Bluetooth streaming.

Not so nice…the maintenance. And finding replacement parts. My last Phaeton was totaled because the bumper cover was damaged and the insurance company couldn’t find an intact one.

I also have a 1996 Jaguar XJ12, which was the last year of the V12, but that is just a toy.

I tend to like having a big full-size flagship LWB sedan in the fleet, which both the Phaeton and the XJ12 are. If not one of those, then it’s usually either an Audi A8 L, Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Lexus LS. Once it was a Genesis G90 with a V8.
