Air conditioner doesn't stay on between vehicle restarts?

Now that it's finally getting warmer outside, I've noticed that if I switch on the A/C, it works fine, but if I shut off the vehicle, the next time I start it up the A/C is off again...

Is this normal and/or is there a way to set it so that the LC remembers the last A/C setting, like literally every other vehicle I've ever owned?

(and no, I don't use the damn 'Auto' setting...I like being able to control the fan speed speed myself...so if that's the only solution, I guess I'll just have to add "manually turn on A/C button" to my list of pre-drive steps).

Do you have it in ECO mode? I cannot confirm this but it has been said that in ECO mode, it shuts everything off with the key and you have to manually turn everything back on. I use ECO mode all the time and I don't mind turning the AC on etc...... Might give "Normal" mode a try and see if it still turns it off.

No, I don't touch ECO mode, run it solely in "Normal" mode...good catch though

My AC and the seat ventilation does stay on across vehicle restarts. I have other settings that don't (like brake hold) and other settings that I notice will only be retained across a restart if they are set while the vehicle is in park. For example, the MID screen selection (1, 2 or 3) will always start on whatever I have last set while in park. So if during a drive I set to 3, when I restart the vehicle it will be on 2, which is what I had last set while in park. I'm not sure which settings are always kept, which are never kept, and which are retained from park, but I'd love a list!

I have this same issue and it's the only thing on this vehicle that annoys me. It'll remember your heated steering wheel setting, but a/c always needs to be turned on again.

Try toggling this to “Off”. Mine was set to On and I was having to manually turn the AC back on after restarting.

I’m not sure as to the true purpose of the setting; I just noticed it this morning after reading this thread. Up to this point, I had been operating my LC’s climate system in full Auto mode. I really didn’t like doing that as I’ve always used manual settings (and with the AC compressor always on) in my other vehicles. But I didn’t want to have to manually turn on the AC each time I started the vehicle.

Yeah, I found that setting as well...Assume it's just to prevent the A/C from being used in "Auto" mode, which may only be an issue in colder, dryer climates?

One thing I have noticed, while running in manual mode, is that when the temp is set down pretty low, very cold air does come out of the vents...so part of me wonders if the the "A/C on" switch is primarily for overriding the climate controls to use A/C when it's colder outside (e.g. when you need to use it for the defroster), and that otherwise the vehicle automatically turns A/C on or off to reach the set temperature? While it has been warm enough for me to use the a/c recently, it hasn't quite been hot enough to really test this potential theory, however...not sure if any folks who have had their LC a bit longer can comment on that or not...?

I’m not sure. I bought my 58 last August and live in the South.

As I said, I had been using the Auto setting and just adjusted the temp by a few degrees up or down. Though I don’t recall that the display ever indicated the AC compressor was on, I assumed it was switched on / off as needed. As our Alabama humidity returned this month, I started to question that assumption. Again, I’ve always used manual settings w the compressor turned on (year-round) for all other vehicles. I noticed your thread the other day and was hoping for a solution so that I could use manual settings for this 58 that would remain after restarting the car.

Since I toggled that above setting to “Off” this morning, I noticed that the display shows the compressor as being on when I switch from manual mode (w the compressor on) to Auto.

I may have missed it but I didn’t see anything in the manual on that particular setting.
