‎2025 Landcruiser. Any issues?

‎My wife and I are about to pull the trigger on a 2025 Land Cruiser. She needs something larger and is getting rid of her 2019 Lexus RC300 that has been extremely dependable. I am a bit concerned about the reliability of the new Toyota models with the recent issues with Tundras and other vehicles. One of the main considerations for us is reliability.

The new Land Cruiser has been very reliable. The Land Cruiser's engine and drivetrain have been proven workhorses.

As with any vehicle, a few have an issue from time to time. However, they have been very reliable and are worth the investment.

These are largely reliable rigs. They are prone to CV failures if driven off-road often and especially with bigger tires. The trans is known to run hot, again exacerbated by larger tires and off roading. The engine and turbo are very reliable so far and do not have known failures like the GX engine. A few isolated trans failures but should still be under warranty. Overall, if the rig checks out, you can buy with confidence knowing it's probably a step below something like her Lexus, but it will still be a good, enjoyable car with a long lifespan assuming proper maintenance.

Spend any time at all on this forum and you will read complaints, and a lot of praise on the LC250. I’m truly unfamiliar with the 2019 Lexus RC 300, but if that was one of the good years, you have a winner. Tons and tons of YouTube experts have made their opinions known, some good, some bad, and at least one has switched sides on his opinion of the LC250, singing it’s praises now..

I’ve had Miss Daisy just over two years, and despite a deplorable 5K service in Ocala, FL while traveling, I wouldn’t have anything else than what I now have.

I own a 2025 LC Premium edition. Bought it new last June with an extended warranty. I have about 17,000 miles on it. I’ve not experienced any problems, no premature battery discharges, transmission failures or engine issues. I use Top Tier premium 91 octane at each fill up. So far, my LC has been a very reliable vehicle and I would recommend the LC to anyone.

As stated, out of the many thousands sold there will be like any other vehicles problems. But it is the true go anywhere any time machine. Buy with confidence.

If you need something for highway miles and long road trips, I'd strongly consider something else unless you really love the look and utilitarian feel. I have a 1958 with 55k relatively trouble free miles on it... there are some funky drivetrain noises and you should expect a new windshield every year or two.

You’re making a good choice in considering the LC. Made in Japan & sold worldwide. Get a good pre-buy check & consider an extended service contract if you’re worried. Toyota dealers sell Certified Pre-Owned that come w/ extended power train coverage if that’s important to you.

100% troublefree. Gets mileage once you learn the art of a hybrid like no rig this size ever........surprisingly comfortable and the gap between the LC and GX550 is smaller than you think. The lack of total touchscreen dependency is a favorite feature. Go for it! People love the look!
