2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 1958 Edition
After a year of ownership (1958 with zero issues) and being a member of this forum, it seems that the 1958 has less issues than the premium models. Could it be that the 1958 is "built better" with less issues than the LC and FE premium packages?

I seriously doubt it is "built better", as they all are produced at the same two plants. In the case of the 1958, I believe only the Hino facility, but some of the LC/LC's are built there also. More bells and whistles on the upper grades to fail?

Which issues are you referring to? The differences between models are mostly the materials in the finishes and the number of gadgets.

Haven't noticed a trend in major systems like engine, drive train, suspension or build quality but interested to hear what you are noticing.

VIN Number last 2 letters= RK if it was manufactured in the Hino facility, R5 if in Tahara

My 2024 1958 edition was manufactured at the HINO plant vehicle #3846. I got the first one sold in Florida. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

It’s not built better. The 1958 and the LC go down the same line. They all get the same quality treatment. I build Toyotas and all trim levels get the same quality treatment.
Not especially the same line in the case of the LC, as two different assembly plants are involved. However, a big plus in my opinion they are made in Japan by uniformed highly motivated employees.

I was talking about if they are built at Hino (that’s my bad I should have clarified). The quality standards for this vehicle between both plants should be the same.

I've owned both a 1958 and LC premium build at Hino. Both feel like they are assembled very well -though I didn't have the 1958 for more than a few weeks before the dealer forgot to add oil, and I'm only now getting back up to the same mileage on the premium.

No way, no how, they just built less, way less.

Better? There’s no evidence of that and I haven’t seen any evidence of a higher failure rate for 1958s versus base models. Simpler, for sure. And with less complexity it would be reasonable to suspect that there may be few failures - but I don’t think there’s any data to suggest this.

Perhaps those of us who specifically wanted the 58 trim had more appropriate expectations regarding the vehicle overall. Some of the complaining in this forum seems to stem from unrealistic expectations which are more likely if you paid +$70k for a light-duty Prado.
Well said. If I wanted premium I would have bought a GX.

No dabs. Rots your brain.
It just kills the weak brain cells making room for strong ones to grow.
Honestly though, I don’t think one is better than the other. If you’re happy with your ‘58 I am happy for you. I am happy with my premie. I haven’t had any issues with it except for tearing off a mud flap and bending the skip plate, no fault of the trim I chose. How are the power seats working in your ‘58? Or SDM? Or MTS? I could go on. Good day sir.

You guys didn’t get enough of your daily dose of drama off the TV?
Pointless debates and complaining has become the entire raison d'etre for the internet. Otherwise there'd only be like be a dozen member and 3 threads on this form🥴
