Just replaced my windshield with less than 1K miles. Luckily, I only had to wait two weeks for an OEM replacement through Safelite.

I had a C Bond chemical treatment done two days after the window was replaced. C Bond is a nanotechnology that strengthens the glass to prevent it from chipping. The treatment cost $100 and has a one year warranty and money back guarantee not to chip or crack. With a $500 deductible, I’m hoping this will reduce the likelihood of the windshield chipping or cracking so easily.

sorry, but you were sold snakeoil.
This is not a ceramic product for rain that you may have seen for sale. Bottom line, the company and installation shop offer a 1 year full money back guarantee. If I get a simple chip or need a full replacement windshield, I will receive a full refund. Only time will tell. IMO, it’s definitely worth $100 with a full refund vs paying another $500 deductible. I will post a follow up comment if the new windshield takes another hit and cracks. I had a very, very small rock hit my windshield and the crack spread within minutes.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Unfortunately, rock chips are not uncommon in our area. Not to burst your snake oil bubble, I failed to previously mention that it worked on my Jeep. I went through two windshields before trying the treatment. Maybe I just got lucky.

I've even heard people get front window cracks with the window PPF, my window guy doesn't recommend them. They will help with the minor chips and the little speckles you get with sand over time.

It is good to hear people are getting replacements, even better it is in weeks.

The nanotechnology increases the overall hardness. However, I don’t think it would stop a large rock from cracking the window. Pebbles, small stones or granite yes. I took several hits with my last Jeep windshield and it never cracked. Without the C Bond, I have no doubt the window would have cracked.

My local Safelite in Austin. They ordered the windshield from a dealer. Note, the C Bond is not the same product Safelite sells. It is a totally different product.

Luckily, I wasn’t the first LC windshield the technician replaced. He told me I was the 5th. I went to the Safelite brick and mortar location to have the work done. Two people stood on platforms and actually positioned the windshield into place. They did a great job.
