Windows UV protection tint

I went with 80% on the windshield and front windows. Only the front windows already have UV protection (not rear passenger), based on the Toyota stamps. The rest went with 20%, so with factory tint is close to limo tint (5%).

It’s a bit unnecessary and expensive to do the windshield, but it’s done! Hopefully the window lasts a while!

I paid 385 for the side front windows, all rear glass, sunroof and a 5" eyebrow (which is all you can legally put on the front in my state). It is ceramic but I do not know the name brand - my shop did have a heat lamp that compared it to his other film, and there was a tremendous difference! It still gets warm of course if left parked in the sun, but I do think it helps cut overall heat and definitely helps when driving on sunny days. At my shop, the regular film was 285 vs the ceramic for 100 more, but we are a small town and the economy here is not booming so his prices are probably a little low. Another shop about 1.5 hrs away quoted my 585, and I hate to have an appointment and leave it for at least a day.

Attached are before and after tint photos. Sorry the before is the only pic I have before the tint and I know the angles are not the same, but hopefully you can tell the difference. The back glass is darker, but I wanted it the legal limit (our state allows back to be darker) but my dogs ride in the back and that is an attempt to help keep them cooler and help the AC work more efficiently in hot weather!

Great price! what state are you in?

here in Commiefornia, Silicon Valley, been quoted $1200-2100 for all windows tint (whole windshield and sunroof). between films xpel, 3m and llumar

I am in South Arkansas - light years difference in income levels and local economy from California!! I inquired about having the entire windshield done - even if it was really light, but he said a state trooper told him it was illegal -although he wasn't sure how they would ever prove it since their meter has to be able to go over the glass and compare the readings I guess, but I didn't want the hassle of possibly being stopped for that. We said several times on the vacation we took immediately following when the temps were in the mid 80s with bright sun that the ceramic was definitely worth the extra $$!

The place that quoted me the higher price also said they would not do the sunroof (so that was not included in their price) bc sometimes they would overheat and shatter and they wouldn't be responsible for that. My guy said he had never heard of that happening and he had been tinting for over 20 yrs. I will say I guess there is a possibility with the ceramic reflecting back the heat and the sun shining on it from the outside that it might be possibility???? BUT, I got mine tinted at 15% to try to cut the heat coming in the roof when traveling. He usually used 5 on sunroofs - but I opted to go slightly lighter hoping to avoid any possible problems.

I used Xpel nano ceramic at 20% for my two front windows. It was $120.
Im debating if I should do the same for my windshield, but probaly at 70% or so.

It's one of the first things I do when getting a new vehicle.
