When I went to tow for the first time, the LC recognized that the trailer was connected, but when I would attempt to set the gain the dash told me that the TBC was not turned on. Of course I went into the settings and Electric (low weight range) was in fact selected, so the TBC was turned on. I called numerous local dealerships with nobody knowing what to do. I even called Ed Martin Toyota (really knowledgable YouTube channel) and spoke to their service manager who had no clue either.
By luck and trying different things this worked:
I went into the TBC Settings Menu and set it to the Electric high weight range and only then was able to adjust the gain on the TBC itself with normal operation. I then went back in and adjusted the weight range back down to the lower setting and the TBC continued to work and has ever since.
