TOYOTA PREMIUM HORN UPGRADE

Also avail here....from one of the members who turns out great stuff.

it is a 10 min install...... open the hood, use your finger to press down on the center of the plastic rivets holding the cover in place, remove the rivets, remove the two bolts holding the horns on...............
Every one of those plastic rivets broke on the way out. Did you bother putting the plastic piece over that area back on or leave it off?

If you put it back on do you have any link to those plastic rivets where I can buy them?

Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am not sure how you broke them all but these look like they are the ones.

Installed the premium horn yesterday. Very simple and a nice upgrade. I first tried the Hella trumpet horn kit - because it was cheaper - but it does not fit without cumbersome retro-fitting which was not worth it to me.

I also have the hella. Yes it was a pain. one of them was fine. The other one was too short.

I unclipped the plastic rivet holding the wires in the center and that give me enough room to install the second one. Albeit crookedly. But I don't care

I may have had a heavy hand. I just yanked the plastic cover up and most of them broke.

Did you bother replacing the plastic cover or leave it off
If you press the center of each rivet with your finger or the blunt end of a screwdriver, the center will depress about 1/16 of an inch allowing you to grasp the rivet ring and easily pull it out of the panel. You must do this to each rivet to prevent breakage.

Once the rivet is removed, push the stem from the bottom side until it sticks out of the ring about 1/8 of an inch. To reinstall, put the plastic panel in place insert all the rivets loosely, then one at a time, press the center pin flush with the ring.

I upgraded to the Toyota Premium horn this week also, as itโ€™s finally warm enough to work in the garage! Very simple and worth it. Thankful for EOD Guyโ€™s instructions, I wouldnโ€™t have figured it out otherwise!
I recommend removing all the rivets prior to lifting out the plastic cover. If you loosely leave them in their holes when you pop off the cover, they may go flying! One is still in my engine compartment somewhere, never to be found!

I definitely didn't do this or understand that before. Lol. I lost my patience and just yanked t and broke it. Oh well. Not the worst thing I've broke in my life ๐Ÿคฃ

I popped out the rivets without breaking them and did reinstall the plastic shield and rivets after horn upgrade. I heard Lowe's/Home Depot have the rivets.

Thanks everyone for the info. Ordered mine. Amazon has them still and cheaper than sticker fab.
