The Toyota iOS App finds Business addresses no problem--nearly instantaneous; however, for Residential Addresses, the App can't find anything--regardless of the location of the iPhone (e.g., in cities, suburbs, etc.). The app searches and nothing ever appears.
The Toyota mapping system in the vehicle finds anything and everything--both Residential and Business addresses--no problems here.

The problem is without being able to Search, Find, and Set (Store) your Residential (Home) address in the Toyota iOS app, you cannot use the AI system in the following manner: "Hey Toyota, take me Home" -- the response given by the Toyota Multi-media system is to setup your Home address in your Toyota iOS App...which cannot be done, because the iOS app can't find any Residential addresses.

I've checked the Toyota iOS app settings (in the System, Apps) and all settings are active.

Any additional thoughts appreciated...

As a courtesy to any member who reads about the above Toyota iOS app problem--
Received a call today from Toyota Brand Engagement Center. After testing, verifying, and documenting the problem, Toyota's iOS app team later confirmed there's a bug in the iOS app and it's planned to be fixed--which requires an app update--perhaps in the next iOS Toyota app release or the release after the next one...

I'll update this thread as I receive additional information from Toyota...

Do you use Apple Carplay? Easy solution is to use Apple Carplay and Siri. You can set your home and work and any other favorite addresses so they are easily accessible and can be called up with Siri. it does have a few quirks. Some of the apps like Spotify will stop playing sound while Siri is talking or a text message comes in. Some of the apps like Apple Music do not so there are a few items that need to be fixed. Apple learns your patterns and will automatically bring up Home and Work when you get in the car if you have them set in your contact information and will also make suggestions like on Sunday morning if you usually go to church, it will begin suggesting that address as well automatically. I like some of the Toyota mapping interface features like the more detailed map that shows up in the drivers information display, but ultimately in the long run, Apple maps will provide far more updates and features and new apps than the Toyota interface will. I think Toyota is embracing Apple as you see more compatibility with the HUD displaying Apple map directions.

I use Apple maps and Siri exclusively. When I plan a trip, I add the name of the place to my phone's contact list, put in the address (phone # not needed). Then it's very easy to recall and when you're not familiar with the area and are looking for the quickest way back to the rental property, it's a time saver.

Thank you for your response...much appreciated.
Yes, I use both Apple CarPlay and Siri, in the same way(s) you're doing...Apple CarPlay and Siri work great, but sometimes, I like using the Toyota mapping system.
It's just that this Toyota iOS app bug is an annoyance that should be fixed and should have never existed in the first place, but somehow, escaped Toyota's software update pre-release checks...

I agree that this is unacceptable. Itโ€™s just another indication that Toyotaโ€™s technology is not ready for prime time. They have always been behind the curve with their head units and multimedia systems. This system was released in 2020 and it was supposed to be a complete overhaul But underneath is still Toyotas unacceptable technology.

Donโ€™t get me wrong, I still love my Toyotas and Lexus. Itโ€™s just that with their technology offerings I set the bar low and donโ€™t expect very much from them. As far as mechanical, I think they are tops.

Wow! Thank you for the history lesson on Toyota's MMS system et al...I'm "scratching" my head now wondering what type of Software Development Method and Processes Toyota uses...Hmmm....

Here is a link to an article on the first release of this in the Lexus, 2022 NX 350. I bought into the hype and purchased one of these. The new MMS system was just lipstick on their old stuff. You could still see the underlying Toyota system if you were familiar with it.

This bug just drove me insane in my new '25 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium. My wife just found the fix so I created an account here to share it with you fine LC folks. Go into settings on your iphone. App settings for Toyota app. Then set location to 'never'. Then it works. You can switch it back after you get your address in there. Absolutely insanely stupid bug for a $65K+ truck.

Thank you...simple and ingenious :) Please thank your wife for me -- very much appreciated (y)
I followed the instructions exactly. I can now find my address now as a result of the workaround; however, there is another step that others may need to do to get the "workaround" working...

On the iPhone, I could not "Set" my Home address--or any address-as my "Home". Repeated the process 3 times...no-go. I could search and find any Home Address, but could not "Set" my Home Address on my Toyota iOS app.

In-case this happens to another member, I needed to do another step to get this workaround it working:

Going back in-time:
As a temporary--albeit, not perfect--workaround for the software "bug", I originally set my Home Address as a Favorite in my Land Cruiser. (This is NOT the same a the "Set" for Home and Business destinations in the Toyota iOS app.)

Adding my Home Address as a Favorite and sending it to the Land Cruiser caused the simple and ingenious fix not to work for me.

Side note:
I did all of this in my Land Cruiser with the vehicle running to test everything, including the "fix" In the Toyota iPhone app.

I deleted my home address as a Favorite. (Clicked the heart to remove it on the iOS app.)

Repeated the simple and ingenious process. The "Set" worked immediately and the red line disappeared below Set on the iOS app. Home address is now Set on my iPhone and works in the Land Cruiser. You can now say, "Hey Toyota, take me Home." (Before, if you said this, the response was something like, "Set your Home address in your Toyota app to use this feature."

As a side note, I originally reported this software problem to Toyota's software team at the beginning of December 2024. Toyota's software team verified and confirmed it's a bug and one of their team members communicated--by phone and email--that the problem will be fixed on their next Toyota iOS release.

Thank you again :)
