So we bought our LC from a dealer in April. The tire pressure has always shown to be much higher on the spare - which I have always thought was odd. I have occasionally noticed pictures of others' tire pressure displays showing the spare the same as the rest... So is my spare crazy high and should I lower the pressure? Or should the spare be kept at a higher pressure for some reason? I just have the stock Michelins on the stock 18"s and we live at about 5,000 ft above sea level..

Sorry to hick-jack, but according to my respected tire pressure gauge (it is supposed to be one of the most accurate), pressures shown by the vehicle's TPMS is always 2-3 lower. Should the sensors in the wheels not be totally trusted?

I dunno. Maybe? I have a high end gauge from Powertank for my… Powertank, and I set the tires to 34. Tpms sensors consistently read 34 at cold for the last week.

My spare is showing 50psi since I took delivery, so It's interesting to see your post. I figured I'd leave it as is until I ever need to use it, and then I can bleed off some air.

I think most of the factory spares were at 50ish and so were the other 4 tires coming over on the boat. I had to make my dealer drop mine on pickup. Some have said they inflate that much for tying down on the ships etc.

When I picked mine up from the dealer all my wheels were 38/39 and the spare was 50. I've since lowered them after the drive home, but I did keep the spare at 40. I figure it's safe enough for storage and I can always let some out if I ever need to use it.

Why would that make it easier to tie them down on the ships?

If you were fortunate enough to have the dealer lower the psi on the 4 tires mounted to the hubs during the PDI… they usually won’t go the extra mile to drop the spare and lower the psi on it.
