I will be traveling to Utah Canyonlands and Moab in early October. I recently did a shake-out camping trip up along the Columbia River Gorge. My bed system was outstanding. Here are pictures of my platform. I add Airstream Basecamp cushions and a 2” memory foam topper to make a cozy nest.

Looking to do something similar. I have a piece of 3/4” birch that is 28”x78”, just trying to figure out how I’d like to add the legs to level it out.

I bought 2 3’ lengths of 4”x4” aluminum tube. They become little compartments below the platform.

I’d love to do something similar! My only concern is how difficult it would be to get in and out of the vehicle with 2–3 inches of foam on top of the platform. I’m 6’2”, around 200 lbs, and in my 50s, so I’m wondering how manageable that climb would be for my knees and back. How has your experience been getting in and out?
