2024 Landcruiser
Hi,

I picked up my 2024 Land Cruiser in September. First, the distributor-applied PPF started warping in late October and was replaced by the dealer. Then, both side mirrors began warping/melting in late November, and the dealership replaced them. Now, one of the new mirrors is warping again and so is the PPF on the front end. These are pictures of the replaced parts.

I’ve had two different Lexus models and a Tesla parked in the same driveway with no issues. This is pretty disappointing for a five-month-old vehicle I’ve never experienced anything like this. I’m in Austin, and it’s been cold; I can’t imagine what will happen in the summer.

Does anyone have any solutions? Thank you in advance.

I had PPF installed on my LC250 back in September 2024, and no such issue has occurred. Maybe it was the solution or type of PPF used?

If the dealership installed it go back to them and request the resolve the issue at their cost.

is there PPF on the mirror?

Do you have pictures of where it is parked most of the day?

Almost looks like you are near some sort of lensing - e.g. reflections off of an office building that focuses the sun, etc - the areas in question seem focused rather than broad - also odd that they would not occur on broader more sun facing surfaces if just generic heat/sun issue - so that is why seems like some angle/focus thing.

Looks like someone doesn't like you. Looks like flame damage.

when that mirror is folded out to the driving position, the melted part would directly opposite the side window glass. i also lean towards the possibility of reflected light off the window onto the mirror thus melting it. if this was from the sun directly (ie not reflected), you'd think the melting would be on the top or outside surfaces of the mirror relative to the sun, not the inside portion of the mirror.

I’m in Austin and park outside on my driveway. Had mine since last May, so through the worst of summer and some freezes. No issues at all. Seems like something unusual is happening to you.

Exactly we had sun light reflecting off some of the glass buildings in the City of London and being concentrated into beams that set fire to things in their path

All a bit like a sci-fi film but was happening
