The 250 and 300 are roughly the same price in Japan, which has confused me. Both are much cheaper in Japan than abroad, so I'm surprised they're not more common. Not exactly an urban vehicle mind you.

Not exactly an urban vehicle mind you.

I lived in Japan for 5 years, and I think this is the primary reason. Parking space is definitely a premium in urban Japan, and I don't think most folks realize just how many great options they have in the sub-compact vehicle category. That's not to say there aren't plenty of large vehicles over there, just that they are vastly outnumbered by much smaller ones. During my time on Okinawa, a lot of the larger vehicles were driven by service members, since there is plenty of space on the bases. Most of the older LCs I saw then and still see now when I go back on travel are Y-Plates. Hell, even I had one (and wish I still did).

I don't recall seeing any 250s on my last trip to Okinawa, but I did see a few on the mainland. I would compare it to my 250 sighting experience in VA too, since I very rarely see one when I am driving around here. In Japan this last time, I saw just as many 300s as I did 250s, to include the rear end of a 300 GR Sport as it was about to drive away from me (Tokyo IVO the SkyTree).
